Hi! I'm also in Rochester, and there's a few of us here. Minis are becoming more popular here all the time.
I bought my Mini at Towne 4 years ago, and have had all the service there. Nice people to deal with, and not too far from Rochester, since it's on the eastern edge of Buffalo.
I'm very lucky. I live 3 miles away from Towne, where I bought mine in August. It's a 2006 MC, 5 sp, pure silver, incl top, with the exterior chrome pckg (chrome mirrors) semi-loaded.
I have had a very good experience with the service. They gave me a rental loner, and even took parts off of another car instead of having to wait and order them. I only had the rental 3 hrs. They treated me very well, and all seem like a great bunch of guys.
I hope you have as good of a service as I did, and best of luck.
PS Do the neighbors think your a little nuts when you wash your car 11:30 at night, ...with a flashlight?
I'm in Rochester as well (southeastern suburb actually). I purchased one of the first MCSs in Rochester as well as our present '05 MCS from Towne, so I have about 4 1/2 years of experience with them. Granted I haven't had many issues with either car, but have never had a problem with Towne when I've been there for service. Relatively recently they expanded the MINI showroom and it now includes a seperate waiting area for owners having their car serviced. They've always been responsive and have generally done a very good job. No problems with recommending them for service (where else could you go for major work?).
There are a good number of MINIs in the Rochester area, but in general there isn't an extremely active users group. Yellowmini has done a great job in the past of arranging monthly dinners, but the holidays have prevented that for the past few months. There is a very active group in New England, but it takes 4 to 6 hours to drive to their events.
I drive a BRG/B MCS with black hood and trunk stripes. Say hello if we run into each other. Welcome to the area.
Except that they had my car a very long time the last go-round, Towne has been berry-berry good to me. I can't complain, because they gave me a MINI loaner, and the only real problem with that was that I forgot my EZ Pass and my garage door opener. I live on Grand Island, and for 3 weeks, instead of costing me 9 cents to get home, I had to dig for 75 cents on my way down the narrow bridge. And I couldn't smoke in the car.
Towne HAS remodeled and it looks nice. And I don't know what this club would do without Yellowmininy. I wish I got to Rochester more for the dinners. I really pretty much like everybody in the group, and it would be nice to see each other more.
Adman, Yellowmininy is our acknowledged Mini activity group leader. She lives right in Rochester! Get to know where the "Old Toad" restaurant is. No matter what the activity is; if she planned it, it will be fun and entertaining. In the Buffalo area, Dedestaud conducts our WNY road rally which is always great, and something not to be missed either! Your "go to" guys for technical advice are Jack0774 and Rocketboy. They always seem to have the answers or know where to find them. Welcome aboard, and hope to meet you in person at on of our meets. See Ya, Bill and Barb Wilcox, aka "Cogman"
