WTF - SNOW?

So, who got hit last night? Up here in Lockport, we (at least were) fine yesterday (thursday) and fine this morning (friday). Although my wife and I my wife did get caught Thursday on the way home with the summer tires still on (ugg..).

Oh I Got it!!!! And I'm still living through it...

Thursday nite the power went out at the new house, which was about 2 weeks from completion and it still isnt on - we've been taking the generator over there 3 times a day to pump out the sump hole...no water on the floor yet. The apartment had no power for about 26 hours, but my inlaws in Clarence lost it late Thursday night and still dont have power. There yard looks like a war zone - we spent about 6 hours there today cleaning up tree limbs.

So I agree WTF!!!!!!

Wow, that was a weird storm... I had posted the above before I knew how messed up WNY really got. We lost some of the half-dead tree up front, and the power 'blipped' quite a few times on Friday, but other than that, I got off scott-free...

We found out that, without power, and no man-door in your garage, your electric garage door opener is a definite minus! I couldn't get to the snowblower, shovels, chainsaw, or anything else in there! And the Mini was the one out in the driveway, the only vehicle to choose from, and of course--no snowtires. The power was out from Thursday to Sunday night; JUST long enough to ruin everything in the fridge! We tried the snow trick with limited success, but decided to err on the side of caution where chicken, beef, etc. were concerned. Barb's antique oil lamp collection came in very handy; they all worked! On one trip we made, we got hung up on deep snow (like 20 inches) when the front wheels weren't touching, but somehow we were able to get out and rolling again by turning the steering wheel from side to side while gently spinning the front tires. I came home from work Wednesday to find that my front yard had been chosen as the neighborhood "collection point" for broken tree limbs! We are in the center of the block, and the branches were about twelve feet deep on my lawn. Nice. Oh well, it was an adventure, and an interesting study in human nature. I couldn't help but laugh when the guy accross the street had his well-endowed teenage daughter cleaning the inside of their front picture window with Windex in a halter top and shorts (they had a generator and heat), while we were in our long-johns, gloves, tossle caps, and winter jackets, blowing "smoke rings" with our breath in our living room!
