Air Bag Trouble Light

I got a letter from Mini saying that my Airbag Light might come on, and stay on, due to a poor connection under one of the seats. Two days later the light came on! I took it in and had it fixed (free), but now it has come back on again. At the rally, one of the other contestants told me that he had been through this "fix" so many times that he gave up and just drives the car with the light on. Are there any others having a similar problem out there? Thanks, Bill aka "Cogman"

We had ours fixed once (back in the spring) and it has stayed fixed.

Take it back and have them do it again. I would not recomend ignoring it there may be some issues with your NYS inspection if it dosen't work.

Cheers,
Jack

I've had mine fixed twice so far. The problem lies with the resistance factor in the connector rising just enough to trip the warning. The fix for mine involved 61-13-0-149-205 Cable Connector and a 61-13-0-149-206 hose. This is a common issue for many MINIs, and it should be fixed free, if your under warrantee or not (if it is the wiring that is causing the problem). I would not suggest not getting it fixed, as you never know if it's a false error, or there is something actually wrong with your airbags. That's just not the type of thing that you would want to find out yourself.

Well, to follow up, Towne fixed the connector free of charge, and apparently it was the connector under MY seat, where the passenger seat was the culprit in the first instance. When I got the car back it was clean as a whistle again, a feature of Towne's service that I dearly love! Brandy and Adam are a pleasure to deal with! I STILL haven't made the effort to pick up that Service Manual on Amazon. Maybe for Christmas? I wonder if Babs would go for that, and let her do the ordering (on her card of course)? Thanks, Erik, you and Jack have been a wealth of information during my Mini ownership so far! Bill

Mine just came on.... I'm not looking forward to driving all the way to Towne just to get the light fixed.. but if I have to, I have to.... I'll just have to take a morning off work... maybe I can fit in a trip to the BAGPIPE SHOP!!!

Hi - Problem is that once the connector from the seat is reattached to the bus (assuming that's the problem) the warning light needs to be reset by the dealer.
