It is still the same three paced laps for $25 as last year. I'm not sure about the buy 2, get one free yet. I have an email into Rob. The money is going to charity. Cash only
We will meet at the Canandaigua Wegmans parking lot. It is 1:20 hr drive to the speedway & I would like to be at there for 10:00, so we will leave Weggie's by 8:40 at the latest.
We will be taking 364 down, & when we get into the village of Watkins Glen, we will take the back way to the park, on the old road course.
Our group will meet up with TierMini & anyone else that might be coming from a different direction at the Watkins Glen race track ticket office (GATE 4Aon the map), before going into the raceway, so that we are all together. Gate 2 is the main entrance, & the clubs will enter @ Gate 3. Ive attached the map
The Wegmans stop would be handy for picking up snacks, coffee & potty breaks, so get there earlier. We usually go to the Crooked Rooster restaurant on Franklin St in Watkins Glen afterwards, which doesn't open till noon, so there would be a little time to walk the village.
Lots of wineries down there if anyone wants hit any of them on the way back.
If you have FRS radios, bring them. Channel 7-21 as usual. I also attached a overview map of our route
Boogidy, Boogidy, Boogidy
PS. For the Buffalo area folks we will gather at Al-e-oops, in Bowmanville, (across from Timmy Ho's). I would like to leave by 6:50, to give us 20mins @ Weggie's (for important stuff)
Please post where you will meet us, if you want to do lunch, & if so, how many (for a head count for the restaurant)
Updated April 8th
Just confirmed, they are doing the buy 2 runs of 3 laps, get 1 run of 3 laps for free.
You buy 2 runs of 3 laps each, & you get an extra run of 3 laps for free. So $25 for one run of 3 laps, or $50 for 3 runs of 3 laps. Your choice.
How this works, is that we all go out together on the first run. Then, those that did the buy 2 get 1 offer would circle around back into the paddock.
They will try to keep us together, & will get us out with the other groups. Same thing with the 3rd run.
How long this takes is dependent on how busy they are,(how good the weather is). In the past few years, we have been finished with all 3 runs before the rooster opens @ noon, although the weather was poor, so not many clubs showed up.

You don't need a helmet at all, it is a paced lap for this event so we won't be able to go as fast as you want. They do let you get some speed, but it's definitely limited. They also kick people out if you get too wild on the track so beware. With that said, its still fun and its a great run to do, but you just have to make sure you stay within the limits.
As far as the FRS radios, not certain what you mean by a "normal walkie talkie" haha. That can be a rather broad statement. Here's what he's talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Radio_Service

Rob, The weather sure does look better than 2 years ago, those winds were so cold and blowing so fast. What time do you think you will be coming thru Dundee, I'll have everyone staged and waiting for you and the MINI parade.
Craig, Probably around 9:40 give or take 10 minutes. Looks like about 11 Mini's leaving Weggie's, plus your group of 4 so far. The last few years, we had some last minute drop outs because of the weather. Maybe this year, the better weather will have the opposite effect, & we'll have last minute add ons.
Buy the way, since there is no pre-registration, anyone is more then welcome to join us, even at the last moment. If you are just monitoring this page as a guest, & haven't created a login, or don't want to commit till the last minute, just show up at the meeting points. This is always a good time, even better in good weather.
Rob

Okay we will be waiting for you as you enter Dundee on the Serv U Credit Union Parking lot. I'll have my radio on, give us a yell when you entering Dundee Land. I belive we will have 2 non minis following us as well.
Great Day, enjoyed meeting and talking with all of you. People of Dundee were all talking about the MINI parade that rolled thru the town, very impressed! Attached are some of the fotos I took today. If you would like one without my watermark, let me know and I will get the a larger file out to you. I will also have a gallery on the Whine Country Cooper Website. www.wccmini.com.
We had lots of sunshine today. A little chilly, but I'll take the improvement over the last couple of years. Thanks to the members of the newly formed Whine Country Coopers Mini club that joined us in Dundee. Nice pics Craig. Thanks to everyone that participated.

We all had great fun at the track and the restaurant, lots of laughter and great conversations! Rob, I will gather information for you regarding the wineries that serve lunch for next years opening weekend and get those ideas out to you.
