You Get What You Pay For...

Cool-looking MINI license plate holder off eBay, rusting as soon as the salt got on the roads - $ 8.00.  Keeping the old plastic Towne plate frame as a back-up - priceless.

I could not wait to get rid of my plate from Towne.  Heck, I made sure that I didn't have a Towne sticker affixed onto my boot also.  Not that I dislike Towne, I just don't like dealerships using my car for advertising.

If you want to get really fancy you could spend $35/per for the MINI frames at Towne's parts department. For that price they better not ever rust.

I have heard of the original dealer plates being worth some money to the collector car market. Maybe you could make up the $35 you spent on the MINI ones by selling the Towne frames 30 years from now.
