I have an email into Mike @ the Glen. As soon as I get the details, I will update this post. I am leaning towards a Sunday morning time slot, since I wouldn't be able to attend on Saturday.
UPDATED 03/09
I've reserved Sunday 4/22 @ 10:30am for us.
This year is the same format as last year. Three paced laps for $25. Buy a second 3 laps for another $25 & get a third set of 3 laps for free. All going to charity. Bring Cash
This is the very first run of the day, so we should start on time.
They are probably queueing the clubs up in the paddock area again this year.
We will meet at the Canandaigua Wegmans parking lot. It is about 1 1/2 hr drive to the speedway. I would like to leave Weggie's by 8:15 at the latest.
We will be taking 364 down, & when we get into the village of Watkins Glen, we will take the back way to the park, on the old road course.
Our group will meet up with TierMini & anyone else that might be coming from a different direction at the Watkins Glen race track ticket office (GATE 4A on the map) around 9:40 AM for a photo op, before going into the raceway. Gate 2 is the main entrance, & the clubs entered @ Gate 3 last year. Ive attached the map
The Wegmans stop would be handy for picking up snacks, coffee & potty breaks, so get there earlier. We usually go to the Crooked Rooster restaurant on Franklin St in Watkins Glen afterwards, which doesn't open till noon, so there would be a little time to walk the village.
Please post if you want to do lunch, so I can give the Rooster an estimated head count.
If you have FRS radios, bring them. Channel 7-21 as usual.
For those who purchase multiple runs, your first run is scheduled at the reservation time with the entire club. After that, the club comes off track and you go back into the paddock, making a right. Those that didn't purchase multiple runs continue straight & out of the park. Depending on the # of cars, current reservations and the general public demand, we blend your club on track for additional laps when time permits ( within reason ). On average after your initial reservation most club members that stay for 2-3 sessions are finished within 90 minutes of their reservation however the morning is pretty busy so please keep that in mind.
Thanks for doing this again! I hope to be able to go, but things are still hectic here. My house is still for sale, and I'm having my 2nd eye surgery next week, but hopefully things will calm down and I'll be able to go.
I'm putting this on my calendar, but it'll probably depend on how much schoolwork I have... this is right at the end of the semester!

Buffalo area caravan meeting spot. Timmy Ho's Genesse & Harris hill
I know it is early, but generally the Buffalo area members usually meet locally & caravan over to the Wegmans meeting point. We have some interest from some SOMC members & they may want to caravan over with us. I am thinking of meeting @ the Tim Hortons on Genesse St @ Harris Hill rd in Bowmansville. We can park in the Alley Oops parking lot across the street. It is easy to get too, for the out-of-towners. Just don't get confused with the Timmy's on Genesse across from the airport. We would have to leave Timmy's by 6:30 to allow about a 20 min meeting cushion/potty stop @ Weggie's, before heading to The Glen. We will zig zig down to Hwy 20 & take that over. Google says that the thruway is only 10 min shorter (and more boring).

You will get a pace car at the front and rear so there's no sand bagging a lap then running at speed to catch up. Pace is usually about street speed. All depends on the lead pace car driver and his impression of the group.
If they catch you hot dogging they tend to throw you right out immediately.

The 'official' pace is 55 mph. As Mel said, there is a lead & trail pace vehicle. Later in the day when it is busy, they have a pace car in the middle of the pack, but they take about 60 cars out at a time. Your actual speeds are going to depend on the pace vehicles & the drivers in the pack. I personally have been able to get up into the high 70's in short bursts on the straight aways. ABSOLUTELY NO PASSING. That is their #1 rule. Last year it was cold & wet, I was 2nd in the pack, we still got into the 60's with the lead pace truck well ahead of us.

I would probably just have my girlfriend follow me there in the mini. The more I think about it though it would be 100x easier if I just drove the mini all day.
Drewster, as far as I know, it will cost the minimum $25 per car to enter the grounds. So you would have 4 runs total, 3 with the Mini & 1 with the Lotus.
I will give The Glen an estimated group size the week before. The Crooked Rooster, maybe the Thursday or Friday before.

eh, I might be heading up with the Little Speed Shop group on Saturday instead. Unless of course it is raining Saturday and not Sunday lol. Kevin there has been great helping me with my Mini and I feel it would be nice to support them.
I just registered to go on Sunday with NYSpeed with a few more of my friends. I'll still be there, but this way I can bring either car depending on the weather.
I will be there. Trying to get some additional people to join us from the southtowns. Will meet up with the Buffalo area team and see everyone at The Glen! It's my first trip with the Mini Club and I can't wait.
