There has been a lack of Mini events this summer, so I thought I would try this. Sorry for the short notice.
Our family has been going to Becker Farms in Niagara county (near Gasport) for years.
This is a family destination. Lots of stuff for the kids; U-pick apples, petting zoo, playground, tractors, wagons. The list goes on.
For the big kids; a vineyard, brewery, fresh baked goods, farm market, tractors, wagons, you get the picture.
Courtland & Macoun apples should be in season that weekend, great for making pies.
There is a Pumpkin Fiesta, & Oktoberfest celebration going on that weekend. They also have a barbecue as well, that will start serving about 1pm.
I would like to meet in the Marriott parking lot (290 & Millersport), at about 10:45, with a departure time of 11am. I have a route planned with a decent amount of twisties, that is a distance of 33 miles and will take a little less then 1 hr to drive. That will get us there just before noon. Any live bands usually start & 1, as well as the barbecue.
www.beckerfarms.com is their website if you want to check them out. There is no general admission to the farm, but there seems to be admission to some of the attraction areas. Its been a few years since we've been there, since our kids have grown up.
If you have GRS radios, channel 7-21, which seems to be the usual channel for our meets. I will also hand out route maps @ the Marriott.
So, is anybody interested?

Not only are they still there, you will see a lot of changes from when you were last there. Heck I saw a lot of changes when I was there last weekend, running the route, & it has only been about 3 yrs since I was there with my family.

I'll have my new suspension parts on by this weekend and I'll be looking for a good ride, so if the roads you have planned to get there are windy I'm definitely in!
Good to see that your are coming Jack. SPD, sorry to here about your jobless status, but glad to have you along. Drewster, I think I have enough to keep you happy. Route spoiler alert here. The beginning is a little boring. 990 & Millersport HWY. Oh, unless we go through UB and utilize the new roundabout in front of the Ellicott complex (just thought of that) It gets more interesting on Tonawanda Creek rd., especially east of Salt rd. It doesn't look like much on the map, but there are some nice tight turns east of Salt Rd & on Fletcher. From there we cross over to NC & up 93 & over to Royalton Center Rd. I am now thinking of going across to Freeman Rd for more cornering, but it will probably add about 10min to the drive, but might be worth it. I'll have to run it this weekend & see. We will then cross a single lane steel deck bridge over the Erie Canal a few miles before we get to the farm. There are more stop signs then I would prefer, but I suppose ya gotta take what your given to get the curves in this part of WNY.

Hopefully the roads aren't covered with "fresh oil - loose stone" like they are all over hamburg/boston/orchard park/eden. I haven't had much good driving this summer because of that.
Most of the Tonawanda Creek roads are like that, but were probably done earlier in the year, because most of the loose stone is on the shoulder or packed down. I ran the route last Saturday, & I was taking 15mph & 20mph corners at posted 40/45 mph without issues. I will drive the route again this weekend & pay closer attention to that.

I ran the route today. I am not sure all the stop lights that we have to go through to get to the UB roundabout is worth it. Too many stops & starts can disrupt the flow of a run. If everyone still wants to hit the roundabout, I'm all for it. We can decide @ the meet. Most of the roads in the Tonawanda Creek area have had the tar & stone surface treatment, but the fresh oil/ loose stone signs are gone & the center lines re-painted. The only loose stone left is on the shoulder. I did go over to Freeman road today as well. One of the roads that takes you over to Freeman has had recent construction. It is ok, although a little on the rough side, so I am on the fence about going across to Freeman.

By the way, Vizcarra Vineyards is part of Becker farms & is part of the Niagara Wine trail. There is a Niagara Wine Trail Harvest Festival going on this weekend as well. Here is a link the their events page. http://www.niagarawinetrail.org/pages/events.html If anyone wanted to participate in the wine trail festival, they can continue on to other wineries in the area.
Thank you Cathleen for the heads up on this.
Hmmmmm. This might be a good idea for next year. Can you smell the wood burning?

Thank you everyone, for showing up. We had 10 Mini's all together. Weather was great, & the roads twisty. No one got separated from the group, which was a good thing, since I forgot to bring route maps & a GRS radio like I said I would. Very glad to see some new faces. I hope you got the bug & will be out to future events.

Just a fabulous morning! We got to particiapte in a Mini Event and it could not have been nicer. Luckly, we got parked in the "high and dry" section of the field. I would have hated to see that pepper white, with the ground effects have to go through the mud on the other side.
Nice outing, nice job, Mr. Bond!
