I just purchased my first MINI about 3 weeks ago and would love to meet some other MINI owners. It's an '06 MCS. I'm still learning about it but it looks like the previous owner did put a few mods on it. It's a very understated looking dark silver (no stripes and all parts the same color) and I am having a blast driving this car. I no longer mind when my wife says she forgot something at the store and I need to go there again.
I live in Webster and would like to join you for this event if I may. My wife and daughter would be coming with me. Is the track run sedate enough for a co-pilot and back seat passenger? I have zero track experience.
Just wish I knew how much fun these cars were years ago.
Joe, you'll be fine with two co-pilots. The laps are "paced" at 55 mph, and if that's how fast you truly want to go, then stay behind the pace car or at the end of the group. If you want to go a little faster, my trick is to get in the middle, let the group in front of you gain some ground, and then GUN IT!!!
Oh, and welcome to the club! We live in Walworth, just south of Webster.

Oh and I may have to back out of this trip. The engineers found a few things wrong with our project at UB, so I may not have a free Saturday for a while. So put me down as a maybe now please.
UPDATE: We're leaning towards a yes, but I have to get the snows off and an oil change (on top of my crazy work schedule and taking care of my horsie) before then...ARG!

This year may be my last to Drive the Glen in our MINI.
As some people know I boondock in the Ca deseert winters in an RV ( I'm arthritic)(w/ no water/electricity)). There I got the 4x4 bug and I've found 4-wheeling - so cool in the desert areas. So I'm going to try and sell our '05 MCS w/~20,000 miles(<3000/year) no winters/ hardly any rain (top down 95% of time)/garaged / brand new tires (Toyo's) & loaded w/ options (not navigation).
Selling for a better off-road Jeep Wrangler (2012)($34K). Anyone interested in our Sweet MINI call:

As long as the weather is good we'll see you at the track. Is anyone coming from the Corning/HHDS/Elmira area? We won't be able to do the Rooster, I have to work in the afternoon/evening.
I am a new member and just purchased my first conv mini from Towne Mini (great dealer by the way) and lovin it. I/We will be coming to the opening day at Watkins Glen and are coming from Williamsville, NY. So we will leave weeeee early in the AM to make it there to ride around the track. It looks like we will want to do 2 trips around the track. My husband and I are in discussing on who gets to go first! I may have to flip him for it. We are way too excited.
Thx. We are actually leaving on Fri night and staying at a near by KOA - making a whole weekend trip out of it and hope to bring home lots of wine while we are at it.
