Delta Sonic?????

Ok fellow WNY MINI-ers, who (with success and failure) used a Delta Sonic car wash?

I do not have the luxury of a heated garage for winter "baths"...

Thanks for all the feedback/opinions!

We have had our Clubman at a couple of delta Sonic's. The West Seneca location is older, and we were serenaded with that wonderful metal on metal sound. No damage done, it just sounded bad. My wife took it to one of the newer locations, Walden or Transit, she can't remember, and no scrapping. It may have even been the difference in the # of people in the car. If the S's sits lower then the non S's, you may want to stay away from them.
We haven't had them through One Stop (Borden & Braodway), or Boller's (Transit & Clinton).
I have seen some small car washes @ some Mobil stations. One is @ Transit & Broadway.
You drive in, the door closes, this little robot does a 360 around the car a couple of times, with sprayers. No brushes. Can't remember if there is a blower.
Hope this helps.

Rob

Rob, thank-you. Every word of experience and feedback helps.

I'm "tempted" to try the DS I pass everyday to and from work... just want to be real careful and talk to the folks to watch as I enter.

I'm so afraid to destroy the under-parts...

I would "NOT" take to delta sonic. You will do damage to the under side of the car. Go to one of the auto washes that you stop in and it goes around the car. Some have a under body wash as you drive in and a blower as you leave. There is a real nice one at the corner of Transit and Dysinger in Lockport. I go there a lot in the winter. There is also one at the Corner of Transit and Maple at the Mobile station.

millersport and north forest. several laser car wash bays at the mobil. touchless. good enough to get the dirt and salt off, mostly. and no ground rails to scrape on.

Our 07 MC had problems with all of the Delta Sonic's with the all season tires, but was fine with the snow tires. Our new Clubman S has been through a couple of the new Delta Sonics without issue...haven't tried the West Seneca one (old), but the newer one on Main St. in Buffalo was fine, and I'd imagine the new one in Orchard Park would be OK, too.

Ironic that there would be problems, as they have a MCS in one of the pictures.

I took the plunge yesterday. With my winter wheels/tires I went thru DS on Southwestern and Ridge/Lake without any issues.

Whew, I may have found my winter thing....

Cheers!

Good to know. I think when we went thru the WS DS, last year, we had all four of us in the car & it scrapped. My wife took it thru the Walden ave or Amherst Transit rd, earlier that year with just herself in the car & no problems.

Used the one on Transit in Williamsville with no problems. 02 MCS, S-Lites with blizzaks and stock suspension.

The only one I ever got stuck on was the one on walden ave in my Evo 8. If it wasnt AWD they would have needed a tow truck to get me off the rails lol.

I used to go to DS all the time, but now I only go to the "touch free" car washes since DS left a few minor scratches and dings on my first MINI.

They're all over the place, I like the ones at Mobil stations. It's good to know that nothing but water and soap is touching the car.

I've been using delta sonic just because its rather convenient on my way to and from work and haven't had a problem for months. Sure it probably isn't the best for the clear coat, but there are already tons of swirls already from the previous owner and I'm not going to worry too much about that. However today the stupid track broke a valve stem and gave me a flat which they did pay so I can't complain too much. DS is definitely for convenience at this point.

Also, definitely loving resurrecting year old threads, its more fun this way!

I can't get up on the rollers at DS, not even close. But my mini is lower then most.
