Just home from the Run. Folks, this would be a good one to keep in mind for next year for anyone who likes touring the country back roads. Great group of people and great assortment of rides--Triumph, MG, Mazda, Jaguar, and of course Minis & MINIs. This was a self-paced 300-some mile run through the backroads of Ohio, across the Ohio River on a ferry into Kentucky, then back to the Ohio starting point. Roads were everything from open highway to darn-near goat paths in the Shawnee State Forest. This is an annual event / fundraiser to honor another English car enthusiast who unfortunately, died from mesothelioma a few years ago. Nice bunch of people and a great ride!
Here's a few lousy pics. The original thread link in my first message should lead to some much better ones.
Anyone who thinks they might be up for it next year, let me know...
Oh, Holly, that little black convertible looked remarkably like the Pepper, dontcha think?

Hey Kim & Jill Looks like ya had a good time. The ferry boat is a little crowded.LOL And is that little pepper actually street legal? It doesn't look like it would make it 300 miles. He could always call Mini USA and they would pick it up. Glad ya had fun. Looking forward to MOT. until then seeya CJ

Well, actually, it was just me by my onsies. Jill and Carmen held down the fort while I did the exploring. Several places were worth going back to as a family vacation, so next time we go, we probably won't do 320 miles in day--we'll poke around a lot. I think J & C will like that better!
I don't know about that convertible looking like Pepper, but I see HORSIES in one of those pics. Meet the new addition to my family (sort-of, I'm leasing her), my little one horse-powered Hannah:
2007 Astro Black [YES IT'S BLACK] MINI Cooper Convertible ("Pepper"); 2013 British Racing Green MINI Cooper S Hardtop ("Bini") and 2013 BMW X5 ("Wilhelm")
Holly, I think you and Hannah look like a real TEAM! Congratulations on your new lease on life, as it were. Now that red ribbon thingie--that means you and Hannah did something right...right? Good for you both! Will you be bringing Hannah to MOT? We can keep her in our room if you want...
Now how does leasing a horse work? As long as you don't do more than wear & tear, you just pay the lease price? I assume that means no horsing around???
As for the horses in Ohio, we drove through one of the biggest (western) riding shindigs I've ever seen! I, as usual, didn't have time to do a good wash & wax on the MINI prior to the trip, but I think those that did were probably cursing at that point. For me, it was just another day like any other here in wild west. The horse event actually looked like fun. I can drop you off next year if you're interested.

Hannah is great. I love her so much. We do make a great team. I think that we have the same personality. I would love to bring her to MOT! She's actually a much better western horse than english (she's a bit pokey), so she would probably would fit in great with that little shindig.
Leasing a horse is not unlike leasing a car. You pay a monthly fee, and can ride a certain number of times per week. The stables take care of feed, vet, farrier, etc.
