Very sorry for being a slacker but here is a poster. I can easily change anything so let me know how to make it better.

I would have liked to get some Cubmans Cabrios in there but I couldn't find any good stock photos I could edit to work.

Here is a window sign that can be printed out and displayed in your MINI during the event if you would like!

I thought maybe some antlers and a red nose were in order. Not sure I like this version better, so I won't be hurt at all if everyone likes the first version better. Anyway here it is. Use either, both, whatever. Give suggestions.

I did try putting a fire truck as the sleigh and it just didn't look right. I don't think those not involved would get it. But that brings up another point, should I be putting acknowledgment to the Rochester Fire Department in this? If so what symbol should I include.

Ok one last version for now.  I found some different antlers that are maybe/maybe not better.

I'll be working until 4 pm that day, but will try to get some toys collected at work, and will try to meet up with folks at the Toad.

I've got some coal, if anyone wants some for Christmas...

You could leave the RFD off. I can try to get the approvals needed for next year if we would like to do it again. It takes the top brass and a good amount of time to get the approval in writing. Also we at RFD are doing a toy fund thing anyways so the club should take most of the glory for this one. For this event we are just being public servents for the club. worship.gif

OK then, how are we all doing???? Are your reindeers / sleighs full of toys yet??? Not me, but Jill and I will be heading out soon to do our goodwill deed. I've GOT to let the holiday insanity pipe down before I risk going!

Great Job Mitch! I do understand how things can get in the way of our festivities. I'm grateful for your efforts. I like the last version best. I'll have to defer on your question about use of the RFD logo to MightyMo (who I see has already advised us).

Knowing that beggars shoudn't be choosers, I squeamishly ask whether it would it be possible for you to supplement the flier with a tad more info--maybe something like:

"Join the MINI Club of WNY delivering toys for children in need to the Pirate Toy Fund in Rochester on Saturday, 12/19/09 at 2:00 PM! Check it out under "Events" on our website at: http://miniclubofwny.activeboard.com/!"

Beyond that, I understand you're busy so I think this is a great flier that we can go with for this year and build on in the future. THANKS MITCH!

I can add the info you suggested with no problem. I will do that tonight and repost the last version. That is the input I was hoping for since I wasn't really sure how to word additional info.

Here we are with updated description.  I left out the "!" after the address just so people would get the web address right for sure.

Now that it is made it is very easy to make changes so any other suggestions?  Be picky I am happy to make changes.

Awesome job on the flyers, Mitch! Thanks so much for taking time to do it.

I have about five bags full of toys so far. I've posted on FB a request to my friends, and have my sister collecting toys from her coworkers as well.

So...what?? We're going to have Holly carry the load for us this year? No one else has bags o' loot to report?

I have to admit we haven't been out yet and it looks like it's not going to happen until next week. In fact, it may not happen until the day before we come up. I really don't want to have to load the MINI twice so might just have to keep my bundles and bundles of toys in once we've bought 'em.

Let's get this thread going! Who's got toys? Whatdya get? Are you going to need to get another MINI just to haul all those toys??? (Hey, now THAT would be cool!)

What is it with this club, fingers broke or smashed and burns? Very sorry to here about you finger. Two questions: Which finger is it and didn't Towne tell you you can't pick up a MINI full of toys with one finger.

It's my right index finger (and yes, I am VERY right handed, apparently. I guess I didn't read the warning label. My potential career as a hand model is officially over.

I also just put my Blizacks on, I love the grippiness, but miss the sportiness of my HPS tires and the look of the 17" wheels. Can't wait to see you all and have a pint at the Toad!

I'm going to the Holiday show on Friday. We work closely with the RPO, and I bet if you called them up, they would exchange the date (the Saturday matinee is the most attended).

Hi All!

I will firm up plans with Gary the Pirate tomorrow. Last year, we gathered at the Fire Station a half-hour before the trip to Pirate Toy Fund. Timing was critical because of the news crew. I don't think we have that issue this year, but I'm aware that everyone's on a weekend and I still want things to run smoothly.

Weather-wise, the forecast is looking MUCH better'n last year (Thank Dog!). Hopefully that will only get better, but hopefully we'll have SOME snow on the ground. (Scott, you might have to import snow this year!).

Stay tuned, go out and buy all those gifties.

How many MINIs we gonna fill??????

(Mitch, don't know what we have to do for the window stickers--let's put our best person on it. You got a mirror handy?)

Window stickers might be tough at this point to pull off. But I would encourage everyone to print off the decal I posted above. I posted on version of the flyer and then a decal. If I need to make changes to that let me know. I know the place I got window decals before would need more time than we have. If someone knows someone who can turn around quickly let me know and I will send you the vector/Adobe Illustrator file.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!!!

Yesssss! The plan is coming together...

We will meet at the Engine 12 Firehouse in Rochester
(160 Wisconsin Street) between 1:15 and 1:30 on Saturday afternoon (12/19) to consolidate toys and (thanks to Scott) grab a cuppa coffee. From there, we'll take a MINI drive to the Pirate Toy Fund (PTF), at 1453 East Main Street.

According to MightyMo (Scott) "the firehouse is a brick house with 2 bays on the corner of E. Main and Wisconsin. Fairly nice area of the city so no need to worry about the Mini. If you all can, as you arrive please back in the side driveway as far as you can so as to make room for the other MINIs. That should help to keep the street clear.
PLEASE, PLEASE do not park in front of the bay doors or directly across the street."

Scott has arranged for us to have a firetruck escort from the Firehouse to the PTF. The PTF is expecting us at 2 PM. Gary the Pirate will be on-hand to greet us and help with unloading toys and getting them to the warehouse.

Whoever's game will meet up at The Old Toad
(277 Alexander Street) after delivering toys (http://theoldtoad.com/ ). Please make sure you enjoy our sociability responsibly. I want everyone to have a good time but no problems / tragedy, especially this time of year.

I've heard from most everyone from this thread who said they'd be coming. If you're new to the thread or haven't heard directly from me and are planning on coming, please let me know. I will TRY to make sure everyone's on-board before leaving Engine 12, but if you're running late, feel free to catch up to us!

Now where's that shopping list?????
