As some of you know, my mother had a stroke in May, and most of my spare time has been spent with her at the hospital & rehab facility, & thankfully she is making good progress & should be home in the next few weeks. Somehow I haven't had much time to organize the usual annual Finger Lakes Run, and I have no arrangements with Watkins Glen this year for track laps (there is usually a car club doing a track event this weekend).
I'm thinking of going for a Finger Lakes drive on Sunday afternoon, starting at noon, and heading down to Seneca Farms in Penn Yan for lunch (Route 54A), and then maybe for a run around the old village Grand Prix course in Watkins Glen, since there are few things that amuse me as much as going over the railroad tracks.
Seneca Farms is an ice-cream stand that also has a restaurant with burgers, hots, fried chicken, and their specialty, corn fritters. Perhaps some healthy food as well, but I can't say I've tried that!
I think the Canandaigua Wegmans on 5&20 would be a good meet-up point.

Well, there's lotsa reasons I shouldn't do this, B-U-T, I might wake up with a wild hair...somewhere, and just have to go for it! No decision yet...sounds like a great idea though Cathleen!

Much as I hate to miss a spontaneous (almost) MINI adventure, I just can't make this one. Too much to do; too little time (and that's in part to make room for the next Motoring soiree).
Have a great ride and a great time everyone! Cathleen, I hope that the smile on your face as you set sail over the tracks stays glued on for some time, and that your mother continues to improve. This sounds like a much-needed day of fun for you. I hope it's all that and more!
Kim, you missed a fun day out! It was a bit warm, but a beautiful day for a drive! As luck would have it, it turned out to be a 'TeamJustACooper' day. Thanks to Jack, Holly, Brian & Deb for coming out to join me!
I can be a part of that team, seeing that I have a MINI and a Rabbit! Seriously, we had a really good time, worked on the tan/burn a bit, and we had some fun sweating at the park. We went to dinner, and just got home, and now I'm going to shower.
BTW, we looked like a bumblebee - yellow mini, black mini convertible, yellow mini convertible.

Well, I'm bummed that I missed it but glad to hear it was a grand old time! I think the Oxy Blue would have complimented the bumblebee motif quite nicely but I guess I'll just have to wait for the next outing. Cathleen, hopefully it was just what the doctor ordered to give you a little boost for the next little while.

Thanks for a wonderful drive. Laurie was right I needed to get away from things a bit. I haven't been to WGI in over 10 years. Being there and hearing the cars makes me want to go back and play even more.
