I have a new recruit from Rochester...she wants to join in on the 27th and meet up at the Lowe's...is it the one in Henrietta?
As the Fonz would say, "Correctamundo".

COME ONE, COME Y'ALL TO TED'S ANNUAL LETCHWORTH HARVEST HOEDOWN! In honor of Ted, if you would, please bring a clean (not necessarily new, but clean) bedding item for us to donate to our local Humane Society. This could be anything from old blankets, pillows or towels to animal beds, etc. Thank you! Details, Details....
We have the Parade Grounds Shelter reserved for 9/27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Use the Parade Grounds Entrance, on the east side of the river, south end of the park. I have attached a map with the shelter boxed in red (you may have to zoom in when you look at it.)
A vehicle use fee of $6/car will be charged upon entering the park. This entitles you to a full day at the park even though we only have the shelter for what they consider a half-day.
Pets: Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet. Proof of rabies inoculation. Not allowed in bathing areas, buildings or cabins. (these are the official rules; don't know that they're always enforced but I don't want anyone to have any surprises)
For those unfamiliar with the Park, here's a link to their 'official' information: http://www.nysparks.com/parks/79/details.aspx .
Directions
VERY ROUGHLY (as in you'd best look for yourself), here are some general directions: From Rochester: 390-S to Exit 7; L onto 408-S; A quick L, then R at the light in Mt. Morris, continuing on 408 to Nunda; R at light to 436; Look for Letchworth / Parade Ground Entrance sign on R. If you go under the viaduct, you've gone too far.
From Buffalo: Route 20A E. to Warsaw; 19-S to 19A-S. I don't know how it's signed, but near Castile NY, 19A-S intersects with 39. Stay W or S on 39, then pick up 19A-S again. In several miles, 19A coincides with 436. Cross the river in Portageville, then look for the Letchworth / Parade Grounds Entrance sign on L.
I can't put signs up, so please be familiar with the route before you start.
Honestly, this is not an ideal location to view much of Letchworth. However, it's got lots of wide-open parking (no trees to roost birds to poo on our MINIs), a nice wide-open field, and a steep drop-off to the river (watch those kiddies). It really is a great spot for an event like this.
A Few Other Notes:
* The park has NO trash receptacles; all trash must be taken with you when you leave.
* NO alcohol may be consumed at our event. (To do so requires a special permit. I figured we'd all want to take good care of our families and MINIs so this wouldn't be an issue.)
* Likewise, no "speaker-broadcast" audio is allowed. That too requires a special permit which I also do not have (ted thought I was bad about rules...sheesh!)
* Water seems to be non-existant. Please bring your own. I checked out several restrooms last year and water was turned off in all of them. Last year, the park provided gel sanitizer in the facilities, but no water.
* According to the permit, "Vehicles are not permitted to drive or park on the grass, service roads, pathways, or along roadways."
* Please note that while personal grills are allowed, dumping the ashes IS NOT. So, if you're bringing one, PLEASE make sure you can carry out the ashes. Last year I brought charcoal and we didn't use it. We won't be bringing any this year as we've decided to go for non-grilling foods.
* Please bring a dish to pass (we still seem to be gathering more people; I guess you can watch this thread to estimate amounts), your own main course, table service (plates, cups, napkins, & silverware), and non-alcoholic beverage.
OK, I will keep posting to this thread if there are changes / additions, but right now, I'm not anticipating any.
We're really looking forward to seeing all of you and all the wonderful MINIs (and their dogs)!
Oh, we'll be bringing grape and ??? pies!

Is there a food list as to what people are bringing? Will there be grills to cook hot dogs or burgers??
So far, it looks like we have the following:
Tinman: Mac Salad Weinerdog: Pasta Salad PepperMINI: Schutt's donuts and apple cider
So it looks like the menu is pretty open at this point. My hubby wanted to make some "real food" (like donuts aren't real), but he has yet to decide on what exactly that will be.
I think that Kim put in his post that you can bring in a grill, but can't dump ashes there. We have a portable gas grill, so we can talk about bringing that if someone is going to grill food.

Don't know that there's a food list per, se. I think Holly's got it summed up for now. We will bring at least one grape pie, maybe more but a total of two. We might bring something a little more substantial too.
Holly, if you don't mind (and have room) and you'd bring your grill, I think that would be great. Letchworth rules on ashes seem a little harsh, but a no-fuss grill would certainly add some options. We could grill hot dogs (in honor of Ted). She used to sit with Jill in front of our woodstove in ID and they'd 'share' hot dogs cooked over the flames.
No prob. I'll bring the "not dogs" for me and VB, and anyone else who would like a non-meat option.

Oh, and how could I forget Nicole as well? And anyone else who is either vegetarian, vegan, or not dog curious.

I'll be there with my fiance and daughter. We'll meet at the Henrietta Lowes for the ride down. Unfortunately the dogs are too big to ride along, although they love Letchworth.
Sounds like so much fun and we're really excited to meet you all!
Thanks everyone--looks like this is coming together really well!
For those interested in grilling (and we might be), as I recall there are grills there but they have pretty wide slats so a lot of stuff would fall through without a supplementary grate.
I will call Letchworth tomorrow and confirm the rules on grills, get the lowdown on water, etc. just to make sure.
I will attempt to summarize who is planning/might be attending, how they will be meeting up to drive there (if applicable), as well as the food items signed up for. If you haven't decided or need a suggestion, perhaps someone can bring paper plates, napkins, utensils, some non alcoholic drinks other than cider, cups, and/or garbage bags.
Meeting in Rochester, NY at the Henrietta Lowes at 9:00 a.m.:
Tedscar - Hot dogs and grape pie(s) PepperMINI - Schutt's donuts and cider; not dogs, hot dog buns, and condiments (and gas grill) CharlieCroker09 Dumpnrun - Black bean burgers, baked beans (burger buns?) Grey Poupon - Chili Trixie & Spd Weinerdog - Pasta salad JC55MINI Grammacoop3's friend (let me know her name)
Meeting in Buffalo, NY (organized by jrbond007):
jrbond007 Tinman - mac salad BeeArrGee VeganBrian
Other (please feel free to join up with a feeder group, just let us know so that we leave no MINI behind!)
If you're not listed above, you are still more than welcome to attend! Just give tedscar, myself, or jrbond a heads up so that we can be on the lookout for you.
