RE: 1ST ANNUAL MINIS ON THE LAKE WINE RUN

I talked with Kim (Tedscar) at MOT and we discussed lunch. What Ted suggested is a bagged lunch which to me sounds like a great idea. When I call the wineries I am going to ask Heron Hill if they mind us having lunch at their place. We will be starting at Wegman's in Canandaigua and that would be a great opportunity to grab a sub. Also Heron Hill has a small café. I will post more details after I confirm with Heron Hill.

Does this sound like a good plan to everybody?

If we leave Wegmans around 9 I would anticipate we arrive at Hunt Country around 9:45-10 If you PM me a cell of phone number I would be glad to give you a call when we are getting close or however much of an advance call you need. Or if you have an FRS radio we can give you a heads up when we are in range.

I was also thinking if as many people as possible have FRS radios that would be a help also.

What is a FRS radio? Is it just a 2 way or is it something special? I have a couple of 2 way radios. They used to be called a walkie talkie.

I will post the agenda this weekend.  My plan was to head south on the west side of the lake and stop for lunch at the village tavern. There is also an art festival going on in Hammonds port that weekend. Then head north up the east side. Like I said I will post the agenda this weekend on Sunday so we have time to fine tune it  then. I appreciate all the suggestions and will use many of them. Thanks again :)

I was thinking Village tavern also, but it is small and can be slow and expensive. With this many people I don't think it would be the best place to stop.

FRS is just the channels 1-7 on a 2-way. There are two other sets of channels I don't know what they are called FRS is the most common I guess.

We have 3 radio's, but we will have 2 MINI's. Is 7-21 the unofficial MINI channel?
We were using 7-21 on the Watkins Glen run, & Diana & I were up on a run to Blue Mountain
with the Southern Ontario Mini Club, this past weekend & they were using 7-21 as well.

7-21 would be fine or even just 7. The sub-channel is probably used at wakins because other car clubs are using the radios also. At MOT we used channel 7 or sometimes in smaller groups 7-5. We can check to make sure everyone is on the right channel at Wegman's.

Met you at this year's Watkins Glen event.  Wish my wife and I could attend on the 11th, as I do enjoy wine and of course my mini, but am are leaving the next day on a family vacation.  Will be thinking of you and the Mini's on the "wine run."  Have a great time.

We are planning on going, will be  two of us.  I have serious doubts that the Tavern will be an option.  It is very small and there will already be alot of people there due to the Art Show.  I think it will take much time eating that could be spent motoring.  Just a thought.

Looking foward to seeing ya'll.

Very much looking forward to a beautiful drive in the Finger Lakes; thanks jimmyd and Mitch for putting together a great trip!

Believe me, I've been trying to figure out how I can do both, because my friend's party starts around 3:00.  Not sure how long the wine tour will take, but I can't drink anything (b/c of the alleged ulcer), and am concerned that drivers may have too many drinks.  I did a wine tour a couple of years ago (on a trolley bus), and we went to 7 wineries, which was a lot (even if you only have a little bit at each place).  Will think about it, but don't count me in.
