My wife and I went to Keuka Lake a couple of weekends ago and drove around the lake. We hit a few wineries but over all the drive was a very nice run. There were 9 wineries and 1 micro brewery. The east side of the lake the road was nicely twisted there is a place at the bottom of the lake to stop for lunch. So I caught my self thinking this would make a nice Mini run. Anyone interested in doing this some time as a group?
The time would be 9am on July 11th, which will give us time to head out and hit a few wineries on the east side of the lake. Stop at the south side of the lake for lunch, then head up the west side and motor back to Canandaigua. This will make it simple and fun.
NOTE I took out the Geocaching due to lack of interest. Sorry
Also please feel free to tell other Mini owners about this run. The more the merrier

The only think keeping me out of this would be if I was scheduled to work. I work at the Canandaigua Wine and Culinary Center so the last stop can be there and I would see you either way.
Good catch Mitch... Yes I believe the Canandaigua Wegmans on route 5 and 20 on July 11 2009 at 9:00 am would be a great staging point. We can all motor through the country side down to Penn Yan. I know a very nice scenic route that doesn't make use of non mini friendly roads.

On that way I am sure you will be going right by the road my parents house is on so we can pick him up at the end of the road. So most likely add MINIMitch to the list.
Going this scenic route I know a back way to Dr. Franks that is quicker and more fun than going into Penn Yan first.
I'm thinking maybe my niece Lisa & I will attend in Klownkrr. We chatted about it today and are almost positive it's a yes. Please count us in for the ride & tour! thanks! Hubby Scotty will be shooting Skeet in Detroit at the Motor State Open, so it'll be a girl's weekend!
see you there! Sue J & Lisa

Oh Lordy Holly, it has been a hell of a year! LOL We had some major trials and tribulations that are finally starting to settle in, and Scott & I are doing much better thanks!
I am still one handed typing after surgery on my left hand to remove a bone - I know - YUCK! My sentiments exactly!
So, we are trying to get out and about a bit and reconnect! Hope you are doing well, last I remember you had that bad burn on your arm. I hope it's all healed!
So, Lisa & I will probably see you all in July at the tour - Scott's away, bummer!
Take Care! Sue J

*Mitch what did the wineries say to maybe giving us a free gift if we stop at their Wineries? If you have not had time to look then let me know and I will make some calls. LOOKS LIKE THE LIST IS GROWING IN LEAPS AND BOUNDS!!!
Also please feel free to tell other Mini owners about this run. The more the merrier!
Very Cool jimmyd! As of now, we are thinking everything is looking good for partaking!
Sounds like a great trip! Thanks for your work putting this together! . . . . . . . . . . I'd like to suggest that we find a way / place / time for a toast to ted (but leave it to me to think of something like that)....
AND, where's the Yellowmininy, PepperMINI, MightyMo, and Grammacoop mobiles for this soiree??????????? (and I know there's more I'm missing...)
It looks like a lot of fun, but I already have plans for that day, and I can't really drink alcohol with my supposed ulcer. Have fun, though!

awe c'mon pepper come play with us. They have grape juice? It's not so much about the alcohol as it is about spending some quality time with your mini and the miniacs friends.

Honestly, I or we won't be drinking much either (but I gotta do ted's toast).
The route looks awesome. The company should be fantastic, and we're just looking forward to a classic Finger Lakes adventure. I think this is looking like great fun whether you're sampling or not!
Sorry I have been without internet for a few days. Anyway I doubt we will get a free gift of any kind as groups at wineries are notorious for sampling and not buying any wine.
I will give calls so that they know we are coming so they are prepared.
How does this list look as a starting point for wineries?
Hunt Country Dr. Frank's (Awesome wines) Bully Hill (Great View) Heron Hill (Great View, Wines have vastly improved lately) Ravines (Past wine maker at Dr. Frank's IMHO best wine in Finger Lakes) McGregor (Bold complex wines) Rooster Hill Keuka Spring
Wineries I did not add a comment about are very good I just do not have a lot of experience with them.
Oh, man, I am sorry we will have to miss this, but my husband will be running the Hardcore 24 that day (not nearly as fun as it sounds! 24-hour mountain bike race near Bristol Mountain)....
We LOVE the Keuka Lake wineries. Totally agree with you on Ravines, Mitch! I would suggest a stop at Keuka Overlook (Old Bath Road I think), quite close to Ravines. Bob and Terri are a hoot, they have a lovely deck overlooking the lake, and if you are a fan of luscious reds, cajole Bob into a taste of "Triumph." It's close to $20 a bottle, but if you can hang onto it for five years it is heaven on chilly night. Bob does a couple of good meritage blends, and their Reserve chardonnnay is usually yummy. We haven't been there in a couple of years, but we have stayed at their B&B a few times. I know that Terri LOVES Minis!
Have a lot of fun!! How could you not?!

My wife and I are hoping to attend this run. We are tentative at this point as we are making a hard push to get our house on the market by that weekend. But this run would make a nice break from projects and packing, and the wineries sound great! Hope we can make it.
