Ted hasn't gotten to ride in her MINI lately. In fact, until this week, neither did I! I started thinking that y'all might have forgotten what she and her car looked like, so I attach seperate exhibits for your viewing pleasure...
Don't be fooled, that's not Ted strolling out beyond her MINI. That's the resident evil / angel cat..
Ted looks nice and toasty warm (I like how she has her own pillow, too!), and tedscar looks all cold in the driveway. That cat looks about as big as ted!

Hey, I think that I need a reminder tutorial on how to post pics. Can anyone help?

Ok, I'm going to take another shot at posting pics.
In honor of Ted, I'm posting some pics of my kitty, Poe. We had to take him to the vet, and he got a little car sick, so we had to give him a bath when he got home. This past weekend, he started to get ready for Santa Claws...

Well, it's been a long time since I posted a picture of Ted and her MINI. We took her to one of her favorite parks tonight and the gate was closed so we had to climb the hill. This isn't the best picture, but it's kind of nice shot of Ted and tedscar, so I had to post it.

The sad truth is ted's disease is starting to noticeably catch up to her. Just over a week ago at that park, she was running around and very into it. Two days ago when I took this picture, she was really sluggish and panting (on a pretty cool day). Her appetite is definitely changing, as the vet warned us it would. She hasn't stopped eating, but she's much more picky about it than she was a week ago.
We, of course, are pretty heart-broken. It ain't over yet, but we know what's coming. As goofy as it sounds, ted was a lot of the inspiration for the MINI. That's about all I can say without losing it...
I hope we all see you all next week--we're really looking forward to Watkins Glen!

Cammie is really looking forward to meeting Ted at Watkins!
What are you planning on doing for lunch after the track?

She did rather like those, didn't she? Today's been a mixed bag with her, but mostly good (which is all relative these days). We're getting used to the new, laid back Ted. She's still got many of her bright, attentive looks. Meals seem to be an experiment for her each time. Sometimes she'll eat her food; other times she walks away (which she has almost never done in her life). One day at a time, I guess; that's all we can do.

That sounds great Nicole! We're at the point with Ted where it's really difficult to plan ahead. We are hoping like heck to go to Watkins Glen but we can't guarantee it. If we do go, we don't have a plan for lunch yet. We're game for just about anything, if Ted's doing well.
We totally understand, there isn't a thing in the world we'd put before Cammie. Hope she's doing well and you all get to come and have a great time. I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you!

Thanks Nicole; that's very nice of you. Today seems to bring yet another change in Ted. Now she's panting whenever she's awake. She's doing all her normal behaviors (much more slowly) but the constant panting is new. Weird thing is when she sleeps, she's fine. We're grasping at explanations and our vet is off until Monday. We're taking her in Monday and see what he says. Hopefully we don't have some emergency before then...

Thanks MJB. Seems Ted may doing somewhat better than she let on. We changed a few things in her food intake over the last 24 hours and it seems like maybe that did the trick. The disease and medications are in a somewhat precarious balance so we've had some trouble getting everything to line up well. Now, maybe, just maybe, things are going to straighten out somewhat for a whle...for all of us. Thanks for the good thoughts.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Ted last week. Her Cushings disease finally overcame her and she made it clear it was time to go. The pain and loss is enormous, but no greater than our love for her. I guess you don't have one without the other.
We had many fun outings with Ted in her car. Traveling just doesn't seem the same without her. Still, every time I get in the MINI, especially now that I see her checkerboard dash, it can't help but bring a smile to my face. I miss her like crazy, but I'm oh-so-grateful for all the many years of fun and mischief she led us through. I think she really enjoyed the MINI gatherings she attended!
Here's a picture of Ted in younger days, resting after a great walk in the woods...
Kim was kind enough to bring Ted over to our house the weekend after Watkin's Glen. She made herself at home, and was a lovely guest. We will miss Ted too, although we only had the opportunity to hang out with her a handful of times. I will always remember her love of Schutt's donuts (hey, who doesn't love them?), her Diva pillow in her MINI, and how she instantly became my buddy at Letworth. Here are a few pics.
Kim and Jill, we are so, so sorry for your loss; I know how much we love our pets, and it would devastate us to lose them. Ted was a very special little dog; she had a very sweet disposition and clearly was your best friend.

Very sorry for you loss. Ted will live on through her car! Even though I never officially met Ted I feel like I have known her through your updates and wonderful pictures. It is hard to see a fellow motorer leave us. I am sure Ted has the ability to drive her own MINI wherever she is now!
So sorry to hear the news of Ted. I hope there is a MINI heaven so as Mitch has said Ted will be waiting in a decked out checkerboard MINI. Knowing Ted it will be a JCW limited edition numbered model. -s

Thanks everyone, for your sympathy and kind words. I love the image of Ted piloting her own MINI wherever she is now. Her Diva pillow is still in her earth-bound MINI and we have to chuckle remembering some of her antics (the donuts, for example, she did like them, didn't she?). Holly, those are some great pics of Ted--thanks for posting them!
When she was still up for it, I would take Ted for walks through our woods. I had cut a trail in and always tried to 'herd' her to follow the trail. Actually, she picked up on it pretty quickly, but often, she just got the inkling to head out on her own. Well, I started letting her lead. We'd just wander wherever she wanted to go. I thought I'd seen most of our property, but Ted managed to find some new territory that I hadn't seen before. She also made me duck and crawl through some pretty tight spots. I guess it was her prelude to Motoring!
Anyway, thanks to you all. Now that our heads are getting a little better screwed on, we're checking the calendar for upcoming events. In Ted's honor, we hope to have many happy Motoring adventures with you in the future!

I am so sorry for your loss. I just logged in and found out about Ted. My heart truly goes out to you and Jill I know exactly how you feel. You and many others were very kind with your words and sympathy when Elliott passed. If there is anything we can do just ask.
I think that Mitch/Dana said it best. We've been thinking about you lots, and are sure that Ted is enjoying walks in the woods, chasing squirrels, MINI rides, naps and donuts right now
*hugs*
