Ok, so here's today's update:

I got Pepper back!!!!!! biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinawwawwawwawwaww

She looks great, and drives like new.  I'd post pictures but I have no clue how.  When I called on Wednesday, they said that it might be next week, and I was very sad.cry  But then I called this morning, and they said today or tomorrow, to which I responded, "let's try for today!"  I was so excited, and it's only been two weeks, so I can't imagine the emotions that those who have ordered their MINI's go through.  I put the two ducks that Cathleen gave to me on the antenna; my coworkers helped me name them "Spike" and "Thor", and I drew very angry eyebrows on them, so hopefully they won't get stolen like the two previous ducks, "Beneduckt" and "Benji".

As far as my arm goes, still no skin, and I'll know Monday whether or not I'll need grafting.  I'm keeping my fingers very tightly crossed, and have asked my praying friends to pray for me.   I'm planning on going to Jeremiah's on Wednesday, so hopefully I'll see some of you there.

Oh wow--good for you! Glad your MINI is back in one piece and I'll hope that your arm follows suit!

post 500 yay!

Yeah she's going to try to put Winnie's Snout on herself, otherwise she'd be driving noseless....

thank you for the honor of being part of your 500th post smile

New Update:

Well, the great news is that I don't need skin grafting surgery...As of this past Saturday, there was skin on about 10% of the burn, but as of yesterday, about 80% of the burn had filled in with skin. I was so surprised, I ran out to the garage to show Brian (Holly: I think that looks like skin! Brian: Now that's a miracle! There wasn't any skin there yesterday!). The doctor said that the remaining 20% will fill in by the end of this week, so I won't need to have a graft done. Thanks to everyone for the positive energy sent my way, and Cathleen (aka YellowMINI) for going to both doctor's appointments. It's a blessing to have such great friends!

On the bummer side, I realized that the horn wasn't working, so I drove out to Orchard Park today for the collision shop to take a look (they thought it would be an easy quick fix), and it turns out that they need to replace the whole steering wheel, so I"ll have to relinquish Pepper again for another couple of days next week (and take two more trips up the Thruway). The silver lining is that the right side of the steering wheel was scorched, and I'm quite lucky that I wasn't holding on to that point, otherwise I would have burns on both of my wrists. It seems as though the airbag vents are at 10:00 and 2:00 on the steering wheel, so be conscious of where you're holding on in case of an accident. I'm trying to hold on at 4:00 and 8:00 now.

Venno, how's Kittty? Did you get the word on what needs to be fixed?

oh man. Im happy your skins coming back, I didnt understand till now why you had such severe burns. I did not know airbags was the cause. When i get my MINI i will be holding on 4 and 8 now haha, so thanks for the advice. :) Sorry about the horn. Pepper needs a voice so hopefully thats the last problem you have with her, glad to hear your doing good!!!!!!! :)

I'm not sure as to Kittty's status, I haven't talked to my sister yet but it still is in the shop (i droped it off on the 18th)
Glad to hear that your burn is doing better! I think that I remember reading in the owner's manual that 'contrary to your driver's ed teacher, you should hold the wheel at 3 and 9', i guess the vents are the reason why.

glad to hear your skin is growing back! (now I can stop all this backyard stemcell research I have been doing with that strand of hair you left in my car. Petri dishes are expensive.) Creepy huh? Sorry to hear about Pepper, but better to find out now than when you need to honk at someone down the road and they don't get to hear your frustration with them!

Hey, that's GREAT news that you don't need the surgery! I remember back when I was a kid and watched a NatGeo show on the human body. Even back then, it struck me what an amazing machine it really is. That your skin could burn (badly, it sounds like) and then re-grow itself (quickly, when it 'decided' to do it!) is just, well...amazing! Good for you.

Hope the Pepper is tootin' again in no time. I know those trips to Orchard Park / Williamsville can get old pretty quickly. (ted's vet is in OP--highly recommended if anyone has that need.) But thanks for the heads-up on the air bag locations; that's really good to know!

Yay! It was great to see the improvement in a week. Sorry about another trip to Orchard Park, but a horn and a non-scorched steering wheel would be good to have. Venno, I hope your car is OK!

Kittty will be all set tomorrow!
It took the insurance adjuster a while to get to the shop....but supposedly in the end 'Some bar behind the bumper' was fixed, then the bumper was replaced (according to my sister)

Hooray!  I'm glad that Kittty will be better than new.  Once I get Pepper's steering wheel replaced (and that dang spot of skin comes in), we'll all be on our way to good recoveries!

This has been a week of good news. The inflicted cars are getting better. Wounds are heeling and Tedscar should be on the road. WOW!

Well we missed the storm in Florida and are here at home in Rochester durring the next wave to hit N.O. Last time we could not get use our property in N.O. for about a 1 1/2 years. We will see what happens this time. Looks like a one, two hit with Hanna coming too.
