Xenon Headlights

What do people think of the Xenon headlights?  I keep hearing extremely varying opinions, so I thought I'll wad into the topic again, and ask on this board.  I keep going back and forth whether to get them for my order.

One factor might be how much driving you do away from cities, where brighter headlights will be more useful. I don't have them, and haven't found I miss having them, but I live in the city. The only people I've heard of who really miss having them are folks who had them on an earlier Mini but didn't get them on the 2nd.

I have them on my cabrio and my wife has halogen on her hardtop. I would never buy a car (if I have the opportunity again) without them. My wife wants Xenons in her next Mini. A+++ for the Xenons from us. I would also add LSD for NY winters.

The Clubman comes with LSD as standard, correct?  I'm getting the Clubman.

Correcting  my confusion.  smile  I was thinking of DSC, which is standard on the Clubman.  LSD is only available as an option on the S.  It doesn't appear you can get it at all on a regular Cooper, Clubman or otherwise.

The headlamp washers are worth the added price of the xenon's alone!

AND, While LSD is/would be nice, I don't think it's missed too much... as long as you're not into doing burnouts. Overall, a MINI with the standard DSC and a set of snow tires is excellent in the winter.

The light of the xenons is closer to natural plus they project further down the road. May not be an issue for you, but as we age we need progressively more light to see in an equivalent manner as when we were younger. The standard halogens are OK but the xenons are substantially better and well worth the investment. As mentioned the headlamp washers are a nice bonus and put on a nice show, but I've never been sure how effective they really are. Probably better to have them than not though.

Experienced.  Not older.  biggrin

I'm going with the Xenons.  Even though I live in the suburbs, I do a lot of winter nighttime driving in the boondocks, so it should be helpful there.

I actually already ordered the car, but I keep making changes to it!  And they changed by build date from August to the first week in July.  Not that I'm complaining!  Other than I might not be here now when it arrives...

WOW--Russell, this is exciting, for you AND me. I ordered my MINI a week ago and was told it would be built in August too. Moved up to the first week in July?? Could I be as lucky as you?? I hope so! Good for you; I hope the magic spreads to the rest of us trying to be patient...but having a darn hard time doing so!

This seems to be a common thread here...I ordered mine about two weeks ago and magically the production date moved from Early August to Early July...not that I'm complaining or anything...but Late June would have been best wink

I love my xenons, although i started looking at them differently after I started working as a lamp engineer, started picking at flaws in them like strations and color temperatures and spot uniformity...blah blah blah...
either way, I'd go for them if i were you, they are great
