Jan RMW - Rochester,NY April 25-26

Yes it's not a rumor anymore. Jan will be coming to Rochester, NY this April 25-26 for his tuning sessions. The event will be held at Eksten Autoworks
78 Bennington Drive, Rochester, NY. Jan has spoken to Larry Eksten and he has all Jan will need for tuning your MINI. Eksten is a full service garage that specializes in BMW-MINI service and track event car setups. They can handle Jan's head, cam, injector and exhaust installs. We may add a day if needed per Jan and Larry if the demand is there. If you need injectors or any other RMW parts please let Jan know. Performance parts such as heads etc will have to be installed in advance of tuning. This may be Jan's last tuning session of the season as he may be shifting more time to his product development and track events.

Please PM me all your info as what your needs are and if you'd like to schedule a tuning session.

Thanks Larry thumb-up.gifthumb-up.gif

List
1. jpavlo
2. the Itch- cam? tune Friday
3. amg6975
4. newbs49
5. mangotango - Head, Header - exhaust, tune

Heres a chance to have a tune done by Jan Brueggemann of Revolution MINI Works (http://www.revolutionmini.com) ,one of if not the best in the business. Jans tunes have produced some amazing HP and torque numbers. Check out some of the post on North American Motoring for past tuning results. Hell be using the Dyno at Ekstens which has been a long time supporter of BMW & MINI. I plan on having my tune done on Saturday 4/26. Hope to see you there!

Since I am new to the Mini world, how much of a cost is it to have a tune done, and what is involved?

$350 for the tune and 85/hr for dyno. IMHO if you dont have a few mods (pulley/injectors/exhaust) its not worth it. With the mods I have I would gain about 8hp. Plus of you have an 07+ (not including conv) he doesnt do work on the newer style minis.

Well being that I am new = no mods worth it yet i guess. I do have an '05 so he would work on that. Maybe someday. Make more sense for me to put the $350 towards mods.

Sorry for my NOOBness I have heard about pulleys but I will admit I don't really understand what they are or what they do or where I would get one, or for that matter how to put one in. If you are willing to explain that would be awesome, maybe better to start a new post for that one.

the pulley we are talking about is on the supercharger. If you put a smaller pulley than the OEM one on you make the supercharger spin faster creating more boost. This creates more power. The safest size to go with aftermarket is 15%. Other sizes are 16% 17% and 19%. You gain about 20hp with the 15% and it will cost anywheres from 200 to 350 to have it installed for you. If you are interested in buying one I am sure I could find a decent one online for you for about $100.

well technically......you could get a flywheel and alternator pulley installed without being an S.  But yes, you need to have a supercharger on your car to benefit from a supercharger pulley. I kind of thought that went without saying.

looking at mitch's posts I believe he may have the base cooper. I wonder how much nitrous the regular coopers can handle? =P

Yes I do have a base cooper and that does make sense that I cannot put a supercharger pulley on a non supercharged car. But what kind of gain is there in the flywheel and alternator pulley change?

I am sorry if I am asking overly simple questions, I have never had a car worth "doing" anything too.

usually on the base coopers people do intake and exhausts and that about it.

It's almost a year after the fact but I finally editted together the video of my dyno tune from last June.  6 pulls.  See it here.

So, any more comments about how their tuned MCS's drive post-tuning?

We motored with Winnie (Mark/SPD's cabrio) at MOTD all week and she was awesome as always. Mark thinks the tune helped gas mileage a bit too. Nice videos, I especially like that Bruto had a small cameo smile.gif
