I decided on the name ZIGGY  I am not quite sure why but the name just fits.  I live with a group of men, my 12 year old son, my darling husband and my seven year old Golden Retriever, of course it has to be a male.

Alright everybody please tell me to stop being paranoid. Ziggy is on the ship TRISTAN and it left South Hampton and everything but on the ship tracker website it is showing that it is anchored and it has showed that for the past two days. It is showing an ETA of April 9th but on the WW website it is saying April 10th. Is this normal or do I need to worry?

I really hope he is here for Opening Day at Watkins Glen. I would love to meet everybody.

I checked on the WW site and they changed the date of arrival for the Tristan to 4/12/08 it was originally supposed to be in NYC on 4/10/08 but that is okay it is only two days difference.  I just want to see Tristan moving and have the status be Underway not an anchor.

Alright I was totally wrong the Tristan was supposed to get into NYC on 4/11/08 now it is 4/12/08 only one day difference. I feel better now.

My husband thinks I am a hoot he thinks it is so funny how obsessed I am with getting Ziggy. I think it was easier waiting to order then this but not quite as long.

Okay, I have two weeks off from work starting tomorrow and I am going to spring clean my house and then by the time Ziggy gets here I won't have to do any housecleaningsmile

I'd be lying if I said it won't be long, but at least Ziggy is enjoying the cruise!

It seems like forever for me.  I really hate all this waiting.  I emailed Greg, hopefully he will be able get some information for me.  I feel as bad as a child waiting to get their favorite toy.

Hi, Maria...I used to live in Olean, but now I'm up in Dunkirk (my wife and I are Bona grads)...

Anyhow, we know exactly what you're going through, waiting...waiting...waiting. We ordered ours from Greg, and it took just under a month from the time we ordered it to the day we took delivery. Once it leaves the factory, it gets kind of nerve wracking because there's no formal tracking system. If you head over to NorthAmericanMotoring.com, you'll find community groups formed around which week your car was built, so y'all can comiserate together ;) From there, I also learned how to identify which ship ours was on, and we were actually able to track the ship as it moved across the Atlantic. That part was really cool, and we have our little scrapbook of screenshots of the ship progressing. The hardest part was that the ship was in port for over a week before we got any word that it was on a truck bound for Buffalo...but Towne was excellent - they had it ready for us to pickup the day after it arrived on the truck, and we took it on a road trip that weekend.

We've had ours since mid August 2007, and I've racked up over 20,000 miles on it already (I work in Buffalo), and it's a very comfortable, smooth ride down the highway. We went a little gonzo with the option packages, so we have the cold weather package and all sorts of gadgets, but I love every one of them (especially the HUGE sunroof and the integrated bluetooth).

Our only dilemma now is deciding how long we'll hang on to it with the miles we've been putting on it. The gas mileage has been decent, but not quite what I'd hoped...I'm getting about 37mpg, driving 70mph mainly on the Thruway. I hear of people getting 40+, and I wonder what their secret is. One thing I did notice - my speedo reads about 3-4mph high, and the computer's gas mileage estimate tends to be a couple of miles/gallon optomistic, but the odometer is dead on.

Enjoy!

I just wanted to let everyone to know ZIGGY is on his way. The Tristan is finally Underway and should be in NYC on April 12th can't wait.

Hi Cfilkins actually my name is Marla

You don't happen to be into Remote Control Airplanes do you? Your last name sounds familiar that's why I ask. If you are I think you have spoken to my husband Jamie, if so what a small world

cfilkins: Which MINI are you? I just got my red with white bonnet stripes and I live in Fredonia, but work at the school in Dunkirk.

There are a lot more MINI's in the Fredonia/Dunkirk area than I noticed before I had my own.

Sorry about the name...my bad...my eyes sometimes can't sort out the i's from the l's on the screen.

It's a really small world...Yes, I've spoken to Jamie on a couple of occassions, and he even spotted for me when I flew at the Stars open house in the fall...I wish I had guys like him in my area that were so nice and supportive (and I wish I was closer to Stars).  Tell him I said Hi! and we'll have to bring our Mini down to say Hi to yours :)

Hiya Mitch!  I have the Oxygen Blue with white roof/stripes, and I live pretty close to Dunkirk HS.

I used to work at the college, and there were a decent number of fac/staff/students there that had mini's, but outside of that population, I'm not sure how many of us "locals" are owners.  Just about every time I stop and get gas somewhere, people come up to us and ask about the car...so it's still quite the little attention getter.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya, and I'll be sure to wave.  I can guarantee if my wife ever sees you she'll wave, too (she drives a black Jetta but LOVES the mini).

Chris

Chris,

He told me tonight that you were down for open house.  If you can you should bring your mini down to the rally in July mine will be there actually the wives of the STARS run the food tent for two days and it is a pretty good time maybe we could get all the mini club to go down.  I will let you know the date I think it is the weekend after the 4th of July not sure though.

But where will my planes go? ;) Actually, I have taken one of my smaller planes in the mini, but my favorite one is a bit too big to shoehorn in.

Is this the scale rally at the airport? We went to that a couple of years ago...it was a lot of fun...I just went to observe, since I don't have anything that really qualifies as "scale."

Your right no place for your planes.

Yes this is the scale rally at the airport, and it is the weekend right after the 4th.  I know Jamie has a basement full of planes that is why he has to have a suv because not any of his planes will fit in my mini.  He is buying me the mini for our 15th wedding anniversary that is in June but I don't have to wait until June to receive it, and also for Christmas, birthday's, mother's day etc.... probably for the next 5 or so years.

I just wanted to let everyone know ZIGGY is traveling along with a scheduled arrival date into NYC on 4/12. I checked out the message boards on miniusa and someone that ordered a clubman in March got hers a week after it got off the boat so if mine follows the same course as hers I estimate possibly 4/19.

I work at a school and I was telling some of the teachers and my co workers that I was getting a mini cooper. There answer was, was is that so many of them haven't even heard of them the children I work with think it is so cool and they all want a ride.

I will let everyone know later on this week, not sure yet because my husband just got a newer/used vehicle lastnight.  I want to make sure I am getting it on the 25th.  I spoke with Greg yesterday and relayed my concerns to him but he said he doesn't see any problem with it being ready on that date.  It is still showing en-route it hasn't gone to the VDC yet at least not that I know of.  Greg said he would let me know when it does.

If we do go to Watkins Glen is there anything I need to do?

Well, we'd sure like it if you brought Ziggy wink

But really, there isn't anything you need to do other than show up, Yellow is awesome about setting up events and being pretty laid back about stuff. biggrin

Of course I will bring ZIGGY.  I told my husband my 1st night with ZIGGY I think I am going to sleep in my car.  Greg at Towne told me that he knew someone that did that.  I am getting kind of nervous though, not sure yet if he has even gone through VDC or not Greg said he will call or email when he knows anything and I am sure he will but all this waiting is driving me nuts.  I am going to ask my husband tonight if we can go to Watkins Glen.  I asked Greg if he thought he would be ready for pickup on April 25th he didn't see a problem.  I need to ask for that day off and I am just going back to work on Monday, oh well my car is more important.

We let non-Minis go on the track with us, if that question comes up! biggrin.gif Most of my events are just show up. In the case of the Watkins Glen events, it also involves showing up with cash for track laps. ($20)

Technically speaking, if I have it right your regular car insurance may not cover you on the track (there is a waiver at the gate), but I've never seen any one's car damaged, either, in the 10 trips or so I've made down there.

We've had people with new Minis doing paced laps with us before. :)
