I am getting a high pitched noise when I use the accessory setting for my Ipod. The noise is there with the Ipod disconnected as well. Has anyone else had this problem?
I've only used my ipod in my car a few times and i don't remember hearing any noise that wasn't supposed to be there, but I'll test it out again today and report back
Are you using the aux jack or a radio transmitter?

Mark (SPDinNY) also thought it might be a grounding issue, but if it's getting to the speakers via a radio transmitter (you tune your radio to a specific frequency to hear the stuff from your ipod) then it's kind of the nature of the beast... i've never had a good experience with ipods in the car that way.

I am not sure if they have a noise filter or ground loop isolator for motorola 1/8th inch stereo Jacks. If you turn it to aux with nothing plugged into it do you hear the whine still?
Yes the whine is there without anything plugged in. It comes on when the volume is up. I am wondering if the Ipod doesn't have enough amp so I have to turn the volume up too high. It sort of sounds like feed back.
In order to even see the AUX input option on the radio dislay (at least in the older cars) the aux input cable needed to be connected to the rear of the radio, so perhaps the jack isn't properly seated into the rear receptacle causing a ground issue.
Does the whine increase in frequency when you rev the engine?
If you're only hearing this noise when using Aux and it's not speed related my suspicion (as mentioned) is that it's a grounding problem. I'd suggest calling Towne and have them take a look at it.
I had the same problem with my Ipod, and I found that there was a switch on the plug that went into the jack. Once I flipped the switch, it was fine.
