punxsutawney mini

When do we get to see "punxsutawney mini's" shadow? Maybe we can start a new gig... the ground hog has had it's time....

With the 50 degree days we've had...I'm getting anxious..... how many days BEFORE I can get my mini out?

(Does anyone else go out and sit in their car in the garage... or am I the only sick one here?)hmm

Bagpiper!!  Cathleen and I are coming to tow your Mini away!  We will be fitting it with snow tires.  We sit in ours EVERY day when we drive them to work!  It's no wonder your car looks so good!  It's what we in the aircraft industry refer to as a "Hangar Queen"!  Is the garage heated so you can rub on it, too?  Now I understand that shine it has.  You wax it once a week, even though it never moves, right?  I suppose you are bolting on all kinds of new goodies for us to lust after, too, huh?  Sitting in a garage all winter is cruel and unusual punishment for a poor innocent Mini that simply LOVES to frolic in the snow!  My formerly yellow beast is now white with salt, but it's still a blast to drive in the slippery stuff!  Yer Pal, Bilwink

I think it's time to get the Mini drivers out in the snow, with or without the Minis!

I'm working on ideas for doing the dinners on a rotating basis (Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Southern Tier), probably starting with the Old Toad in Feb.

I'm waiting for Watkins Glen to announce the date for Opening Day (usually last weekend in April or first in May).

I have ideas on a tour staring in spring for ice cream places, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!

COGMAN... Hangar QUEEN ? That's nooo way ta talk ta a lad who wears a kilt.....

Yellowmini: Ice Cream....any place is a good place .... there is a new Ice Cream shop in Fairport called Moonlight Creamery... and there is always Brusters in Webster...and on a SUMMER night we could do the "car show" in the village of Fairport and EAT ICE CREAM at Lickety splits. It has been on a Tuesday night and they have music....(not bagpipes)...

Alright!!! Anyone up for a cruise/meet on Saturday or Sunday? SPD and I are around this weekend and itching to do something Mini. We can get hot cocoa and compare snow tires and winter wheels biggrin

I was picking up some dinner last night and the restaurant's owner spied Bruto out front, I expected the conversation to go something like this:

Proprietor: Nice car!
Me: I know!!! (just kidding) Me: Thanks!
Proprietor: How does it do in the snow? Must be pretty scary...
Me: No way! With snow tires it's a tank!

Instead, this is what happened:
Proprietor: Nice car! Where do you get one of those around here?
Me: Thanks! Buffalo.
Guy in Restaurant: Is that one of those Minis? That's a nice car!
Me: Thanks!
Proprietor: It must be a lot of fun.
Me: Sure is.
Guy in Restaurant: Do those come in convertibles?
Me: Yup, my husband has one - it's a blast.
Guy in Restaurant: I'll bet, they look like they'd be fun convertibles.
Me: They sure are!

Anyway the moral of the story is - hmm... everyone is sick of winter? mini's are awesome? maybe i was just excited to be able to talk about how great Minis are with strangers, even if it was just a little bit.

On a somewhat similar note to this conversation; Brian and I are in Florida right now, and we reserved a convertible. The website said that it would be a Chrystler Sebring or "something similar". Well, much to our chagrin, we got a PT Cruiser convertible!!! Although I feel like a big tool driving around in that thing (which is a piece of crap), it makes me miss and appreicate my MINI super-mega-bigtime. I can't believe that anyone actually purchases that car (the PT). Yuck!!!

I bet your car is laughing at you. Probably sitting in a garage wishing it was in Florida motoring you around.

No joke. The PT Cruiser is very shaky, and even though it was a "turbo", it had no guts at all. It made all sorts of creaks and groans; very cheap. I wish I could have fit the MINI in my carryon luggage, but it was just a little too big. We only spied a couple of MINIs when we were down there (but not one convertible); but there was certainly an overabundance of PT Cruiser convertibles. The good (?) news is that we're back in New York, with access to the MINI (and our other reliable automobiles).

Just think how much more you appreciate your MINI.... I just put the mini back on the road after 3 months of not driving it... and it's like the thrill is back ... just like the ad on TV...
When you turn on your car......does the car return the favor ?....

Hey Cathleen,
Barb and I just stopped in a really cool restaurant/bar in Canandaigua that Copi might be more familiar with as to how to get there, called something like the Lumberyard Grille.  It had a great upstairs room where they could put us, and will even pre-arrange meals for $10 ea. if you call ahead.  It's off the main drag a block or so, but really a rustic place with good owners and best of all, good food!  Let's go!  Billbiggrin

You're right on with that statement.  I have been keeping my MINI in the garage during the winter, but had to take it out today for a drive (since the forecast didn't call for snow).  Driving the MINI is like a breath of fresh air!  :)
I wish that it didn't snow in NY....

After six years of MINI motoring I can still say yes.

I wonder if the Caddy owners will be equaly stimulated after six years.

Cheers,
Jack
