TomTom or Garmin?

I bought a Garmin Nuvi.  I love it because it tells me how long I'm on a certain road until the next turn.  This will eliminate many squabbles with my husband (holly:  "How long are we on this road for?" Brian:  "I don't know"  Holly:  "well, can you look at the directions?"  Brian:  "what's the point?"  Holly:  "Give me the freaking paper so that I can read it then!"  Brian:  "you shouldn't read and drive at the same time")  Now mind you, I only used it for about 10 minutes last night, but so far so good.

I love that area.  My friend Jennie, whom we are going to visit after MOT, lives in Westford.  The Boston area real estate is quite expensive, though.  Brian and I are looking into the Charlotte area.

LOL this was soooo Nicole and I BGPS (before GPS) Travelling is soo less stressful.  One thing that is also fun to do is to take the shortest route back home from places instead of the fastest. We did that from New Hampshire last year. Will probably do it again this year.

I just talked to John & Linda, and they will meet us at the Clifton Springs service area around 12:15. No word yet from the TIERMINI folks.

Jake's car has a serious problem.  Ask the man for the details.  We are making the drive to MOT, we will do the motoring around the roads (nothing crazy) but we will NOT be making it up the mtn.  So, if anyone else would like to climb Mt Washington who was not able to get in...

Oh, how sad!  I guess we'll catch up in the morning as to what happened.

yeah, looks like i have a failing lower control arm bushing. it will be ok for the trip out, but i don't think i want to stress the car on the drive up the mountain, but we'll see how it's doing.

Sorry to hear that, Tzcheezes! Have a safe drive up, everyone, and we'll see you in Gorham. We've got 5 NY Minis and a Chicago Mini at Yankee Candle. biggrin.gif

Cathleen - If you (or anyone else) sees this while at MOT could you please grab a spare MOT booklet if possible? The cover photo is one I took at last year's gala and I'd like to have a copy.

Thanks.

I'll check with Ian. If there's not an extra for some reason, you can have mine.

Haven't seen the Tscheezes or PepperMini yet, but I'm in Gormham! biggrin.gif

Cathleen - thanks for checking with Ian and the offer of yours.

SPD - thanks for offering your second booklet. If a spare one can't be scrounged up and you're still willing I'll be thankful.

Hi, I'm home! I had a great time, except for the usual problem of there being too many people there to get to talk to everybody! biggrin.gif

It was great to spend more time with people that we know (Yellow, Pepper, JohnnieOh, Brewmeister, Joe), meet people in person that we knew from here (Tscheez's!), and make some new friends.

Next year let's definitely have that cookout! Mark now has a LOT of hot dogs to eat!

We just got back today (we stopped by to see my bestest friend in the whole world, and it's a good thing, because we found out that she and her husband are expecting twins!). We had a great time at MOT, too. I think that Brian is back to thinking that he wants a MINI. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We toted that dang grill around and heard it jiggle with every bump that we hit, so we will definitely have to get our ducks in a row next year and plan a cookout (like set a day/time)!

We really enjoyed driving up with the Tschetters, meeting other MINI owners, seeing some familiar faces from the WNY MINI club and driving around the beautiful states of NH and Vermont (and up to the top of Mt Washington, of course). We also made a run to the Ben & Jerry's plan up in Vermont. Any time that anyone around here wants to meet at B&J's in Pittsford, we're in. I was so exhausted by the time that we got home, I took a nice, long nap.

It was great to spend time with our MINI friends at MOT.  Thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome, aren't MINI people great!  Cathleen, did you ever pay the ransom? smile

Well, I was waiting by the ATM machine in the lobby when someone handed me a duck... Thanks again for the picture! I brought the well-travelled Quack Quack Jack to Minis On Top, and I asked the TierMINI folks going on the Mt Washington Weather Observatory tour to see if they could get a picture of QQJ with the new Weather Observatory mascot, Marty.

Now I just have to get my pictures posted! Most of them seem to have a duck in them...

Sorry to have stressed you (and others) out about Quack Quack Jack, Cathleen. Luckily, no harm came to him.

What a fun event MOT was! It is a long drive back home the next day, but worth it. It was great to see everyone. See you around.
