RE: Minis on top 2008

Well, we found the AWESOMEST sausage place in Vermont we like to hit at lunch time.  ALL THINGS encased in tubing fresh made!  Hot dogs, bratwurst, knockwurst, sausages!
That, and we like to have time to play in the pool before meeting everyone for dinner and I go on duty in the MOTOR room.
I will have to double check with my husband as to what time we left last year.  I think we rolled out of bed at normal time, jumped in the shower and went.  So, we were probably on the road at 7 or 8??  I just remember really emphasizing to Jake that I wanted him to get a good nights sleep before hand.  So I'm guessing closer to 8?  I will check.

I'm thinking 11ish. Where is open for question. Last year we met on Route 96 in Bushnell's Basin, since it was near the Thruway. But anywhere with a parking lot is fine. WriteStuff & Tsukiji are driving in from Chicago/Milwaukee & will drive with us, and I'm wondering if the Southern Tier/Syracuse folks want to meet with us along the way (Thruway rest stop?)

FYI, for anyone who is planning on leaving on Friday (rather than Thursday), we are meeting at the TGIFRidays/Hampton Inn parking lot on Route 96 in Victor approximately at 8:00 am. If you plan on being there, please let me know so that we don't leave without you.

Also, I looked up directions to the Town and Country Inn on several websites, and received different directions on each site (and different varying times from 7 hours to almost 9 hours). Does anyone have any recommendations?

Finally, I'm curious as to the final tally from WNY. Yellow, Spd, Trixie, MrsTsCheez. Anyone else?

Oh, and one more thing...

I wanted to confirm that we are bringing a MINI Weber grill (and charcoal), as well as two different kinds of veggie burgers (and rolls, ketchup, and mustard), and welcome anyone to use the grill to make their burgers/brats/weenies.

We are also bringing two walkie talkies with us, so we can share one.

we are going up on Thursday. If you wish to borrow our spare you just need to pick it up before then =P

If you don't have one I strongly suggest buying one. It makes exploring sooo much more comfortable. Having it gives you a sense of comfort because if you get lost it will get you back.

On my way home, I usually take NH Route 2, to 91, to 90, so if you do the reverse, it would be Thruway/Mass Pike to 91 North, up to St Johnsbury VT, then east across to NH, and the Town & Country is on Route 2 on the east side of Gorham. It may be more miles taking 90 to 91, but it is a whole lot faster than the 'Vermont speed limit' on 7/9.

Pepper - you can definitely borrow our GPS! Mark is right about it making travel much more comfortable and stress-free. Do you or the hubby work in the Henrietta area?

I suggest that the Thursday group co-opt a good idea from the Friday group and meet at the same place...

You coming down for the Watkins Glen run?  I guarantee Winnie isn't as easy to keep up with as Nicole's car is :)

You guys are so cool.  I work in the Woodcliff complex, which is on the edge of where Victor meets Bushnell's Basin.  How do you normally go home?  I could probably meet up with you somewhere (perhaps we can meet for dinner in Pittsford or something, our treat). biggrin

Hey, don't panic.  This will be our 4th year going to MOT, so we know where we're going.

well we aren't thaaat cool. The GPS your using is a budget one that is annoying when you miss your turn. Also its been dropped and kicked alot LOL!
Maybe when Yellow finalizes a spot (hopefully Eastview Mall Parking lot or something) we can just drop it off at your work if you want to PM a cell # or something.

When I first started reading this thread, for some reason, I thought MOT was in the fall (and I thought / hoped / prayed) I might have my MINI by then and could join you all. Now, I'm having to live vicareously through all of you. Hope you all have a great trip; be careful out there!

That's a relief.  How long should it take (approx)?

Pepper I found the power cord for the GPS and suction cup mount and charged it. It's great to have even if you are following people there. Because when you're there you can explore and not get lost.

Hampton Inn or Eastview works for me. I'm waiting to get details from the Chicago folks to see when they'll be coming through so we can hopefully meet up with them.

Not sure how many people from these parts will be at MOT, but The Big Yin was there the past couple of years, and the Lapps from Corning have been regulars from the first MOT. (I first met them in Bar Harbor.)

East of 81 run i think will have to wait until Im back for good Since Im about 90% there, but that last extra 10% requires at least a weekend, But, I will be in the states from July 31st to August 18 (booked tickets) and I do plan on swinging up for a weekend or 2 for some wine tasting and MINI runs. Actually, I'll do a rerun of either of the runs that I've organized in the past, I'll start a thread in the next few weeks and figure out which one you guys prefered

Spd, you are truly a rock star.  So convincing, in fact, that I went out and purchased a GPS this evening.  I figured that I could use one long term (especially because we are considering moving in the somewhat near future).  I used it to go out and buy a wall charger (it only came with a car charger, which would compete with my ipod docking station), and I found it to be much superior to my husband's navigation skills.  It's awesome!

Well, no definite word from the Chicago folks as to whether they will get to Roch. by tomorrow evening, so we will try to meet up with them along the way on Thurs. or at the Red Roof Inn. Any objections to moving the departure to time to 11:30 or 12 to have a better chance of letting them catch us? I'll check with the Southern Tier folks too about where to meet up on the way, or in MA.

Nicole and I are hoping to move to Boston or one of its surrounding suburbs.
