Another Snow Tires Question

I know basically nothing about snow tires, so bare with me! weirdface
I have a 2005 Cooper that has 15" tires on it now and I want to get snow tires. My one friend tells me to get just two tires for the front and someone else told me it's better to get all four - does it really make a difference? I am kinda leaning towards all four, but if I can get away with two that would def. be cheaper.

And - where do you recommend getting them? I keep hearing about tirerack.com. I plan on getting some narrow 15" ones and just using the black steel without rims.

thanks!
Liz

Liz, you should definitely have all 4 tires the same on the car. Having different tread patterns can cause very bad handling.

The 15" tire size for the Mini is kind of unusual, so some of the smaller local tire places may not have the right size, which is where Tire Rack and some of the bigger tire places, and Mini dealers have an advantage.

Thanks for the info! biggrin I'll probably go with tirerack then but I might try one or two places first.
