WTB: MCS exhaust (Stock or Aftermarket)

Hi,
Looking for an exhaust system (fairly new or unused), stock or aftermarket. I have an 03 MCS. Also, if you have the stock muffler hangers available, that would be cool too. My stock one is rusted and needs replacing. I don't have a lot of money to buy new. I'm in Western NY (Rochester). I'm willing to pick up within 3-4 hours drive...

Please let me know.
Thanks.

CooperLau,

You should check with Ray over at Towne MINI. When we bought our MCS last year, we replaced the stock "cat back" exhaust with the JCW one. Ray said he would save our stock one 'for a while' as it was almost new (our MCS had 17 miles on it when we picked it up).

At the Rallye last week I forgot to ask Ray if it was still there. I guess the $100 (cash and carry) for MINI Club of WNY members is still good. I'll make a contribution to the club website with some of that (and split rest with Ray if he wants) Or, I'll just buy more MINI accessories from Towns.

There really isn't any reason for Towne to charge for a stock MCS exhaust system if it's one that was removed when a JCW system was installed. When JCW parts (either the entire package or just a portion) are installed by the dealer the stock parts (except for the head, which is exchanged) are discarded. No cost to Towne should equal no cost to you.

I sort of agree. Parts should be n/c labor should be charged.

Now for the real answer to your question. I have several exhausts at my place FREE for the taking.

All you need to do is to get the proper replacement hangers and come over here to pick it up.

If you are willing to get dirty I will be happy to help install it.

Cheers,
Jack

Good man Jack. You got mine when I took delivery of my '05 MCS/JCW which had a total of 5 miles on it at the time. Glad to see the spirit of sharing still lives.

Thanks for the info, everyone.
Jack, that is great! Regarding the replacement hangers, are you talking about the piece that goes around the mufflers?
Thanks!

CooperLau,

Glad to hear you got hooked up with Jack07734 for a free exhaust and help installing it.

Pamlico and Jack07734,

Sorry for the confusion, but the exhaust I am referring to is technically mine (not Towne's) [same one I posted about in May 2006]. So any transaction would be a personal one (not Towne charging for discarded parts [they don't do that]).

I made a gentlemen's agreement with Ray, if I found a buyer, he would pickup the payment. And, I offered to split it with him so we can get some accessories for our MINIs. Because the exhaust is almost new and Towne swapped it out, they might also install it for the buyer.

Prices were just guesses on my part at that time. Because I did not get to check with Ray to see if it was still there (may have been scrapped to make room in the storage area) and if I could offer it for free, I did not want to offer that right off.

If it is still there and Ray needs the room, I would gladly give it for free to whomever wants it. Also, I promised myself that if I made anything off it, I would made a contribution to this website with part of it.

Guess I better check with Ray to see if is still there and, if it is, figure out we want to do with it. That might prevent any future confusion like this. Sorry.

No problem at all - a very simple misunderstanding.
