Window tinting questions & pictures

I'm thinking of getting the windows on my Pepper White/Black R56 windows tinted. But I'm not sure how dark I want to go? Does anyone have pictures of tinted minis?

Also, is there a place in Rochester you would recommend to get the windows tinted?

Does Towne do this?

RE: Window tinting questions & pictures

I always use the Tint Shop in Henrietta - they have done 4 other cars of mine - have been very pleased.  I went with 20% and it is REAL dark.  If you live local you can look at mine if you want.  I can email you pics but not so good at uploading pics to a web site like this.  Drop me a line jenea_rychlicki@yahoo.com as I'm not always on here.

I'll second The Tint Shop. They did the windows on our first MCS with no problems. The fit was fine and the tinting seemed to be very durable.

First off, no we do not do it here at Towne, I have had many customers come in and have the windows tinted with good results and I have yet to see any adverse effects. As far as the tint shop that Jenea used, I can vouch for how hers turns out, and it turned out quiet well, one of the better jobs I have seen.

Thank you Mark!  Raman - as soon as I get my car back you can check it out in person.  BMW's are tough with the "dots" around the perimeter of the rear windows but the Tint Shop is pretty decent - I mess around with it with a credit card but I'd be happy top show you my "tricks!"  :)

I'm wondering about having the sunroof glass tinted on my MCS (when it arrives). I noticed on a test drive on a very sunny day, it was really brighter than I wanted and missed having a totally-opaque option. Anyone ever try that?

I have a roof graphic on mine which is prefferated ( like on a bus) I find it to be cooler in the car durring the summer, but yet it still allows some light through (about as much as the screen lets through)....if i pull the screen over the sunroof along with the roof graphic it cuts out most of the sun...

Sounds like a good concept. Actually, I was toying with the idea of getting checkers on the roof - mostly for the style, but also thinking that the roof would then be 50% covered/opaqued. I didn't get the checkers, but I'm thinking I can always get it afterwards (along with checkered mirror caps).

Resurrecting an old thread...same topic; updated time...

I'm considering tint on at least the rear windows, more for Carmen than for me. According to The Tint Center website (http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/NY/), laws in NY state that at least 70% of the ambient light must be allowed in through the glass. (I'm assuming that implies that the tinting can be no more than 30%).

Since this post was started back in 2007, does anyone have any additional input or recommendations? I would particularly be interested in a shop between Jamestown and Buffalo, just to keep it a little closer to home.

My own preference is not to do it, but I'm really thinking I might need to in order to keep Carmen from getting too hot in the warm, sunny weather. I suppose we could use a sheet or something over her crate on the sunny side and maybe get the same effect. I hate to rush into something only to regret it later...

Ideas welcome..thanks!
