What, has everybody already put away for the winter?

10 days on the board without a post? What's the dilio? Is this an episode of The Twilight Zone, and I am the only MINI owner left on Earth? Is Vic Morrow secretly alive and living with Elvis and JFK on a Greek Island? "'To Serve Mankind' is a cookbook! It's a cookbook!!!" "Soylent Green is people!"

Oh, the humanity!

Put away for the winter? And miss the sheer fun of hearing all the systems doing their job as you whip around in the snow? Heaven forbid! The anti-lock brake system is a trip to actually hear working on the ice! I'll put away my motorcycle (in November), but my Mini is a CAR, and a damn excellent winter vehicle! For shame, for shame, ye "fair weather" drivers. May your garage roof cave in! May mice find a home in your air box! Just kidding, Dave! But the Mini is truly too much fun to put away for half the year. Bill, aka "Cogman"

I was just wondering why nobody was posting. Don't you fret, I don't put mine away, except overnight. It's fun to drive in the snow, but, frankly, the real reason I don't put it away is that I can't afford to have more than one car! After 3 more years of car payments, and 4 more years of alimony, I'll have enough every month to fill up the tank AND have a daily cigar! And I'll have only 67 years left on my mortgage . . .

I'm not put away, (though maybe should be!). Closing & moving tomorrow. Whew! Then I'll want to go for a drive or two so I don't have to think about unpacking!

Put away for the winter? HMMMMM So far it has been 27 quarts of tomatoes, a couple dozen pickled beens, green tomatoes and peas.

As for cars Even Edna hasn't gone on winter vacation yet.

Smileee will brave another winter.

Cheers,
Jack

Were a 12 month driver here too!

I can't think of any thing I would rather drive!

I'd like to put snows on this year though. Last February's crash could have been avoided with good snow tires me thinks,

I guess with the past 2 or 3 weeks being consummed staining the house, we have not been visiting many sites at all.

The Tardis is staying on the road year round. If we had another "winter beater", we would take the other car in our fleet off the road (its 1 in 1200).

I have been online researching winter wheels. With JCW 'big' brakes makes 16" rim selection is a little "tight". I am sticking with Pirelli run-flat tires.

BTW - We can't wait for next years MCofWNY Road Rally. This year time, hopefully, I won't miss the first turn!

Heck no... Why buy such a cool/fun car only to use it half the year? I did have to take my in for service recently, I had a stuck supercharger valve, and before the car warmed up, if the engine was splashed too hard on the passenger side, the car would almost shut down, and go into limp mode. Not fun. I also need to do a break job, and replace the boot latch, and I still never re-painted the downtubes. Yep, the Mach 4 is finally starting to show it's age a bit, but I'm not going to complain. For a first year car that's driven HARD, still nothing major. Heck, I hope to be able to hit more autocrosses next year.. :)

If you have yet to autocross, I really suggest you do, at least the one at the go-cart track. Even if you're not a speed demon, if anything, it's just fun to see what your car can do when you really push it. Anyways, if you're too much of a speed demon, you'll end up off the track.

I think we should start bringing back the monthly dinner, anyone else up for some grub?

Erik...

I'm out. Mila is going in for her yearly detail and slumber on the 7th a little earlier than usual. I'm just too busy to drive her. Maybe next year I'll get to take her out more. With our move and the newish baby (going on 14 months) this year the only driving she's done was the rally, the drive to the new house and 3 trips around the block to keep her battery charged. She's been sitting in the garage all summer while I work on the house or yard or play with my daughter. Besides, it's time to clear up a parking space in the garage for my wife's Element.

Now that she's paid off I don't feel too bad about letting her sit. At least I don't feel like I'm making large monthly car payments on a car I don't drive.
