Hello all this is Craig Nelson of the Whine Country Coopers www.wccmini.com in Dundee NY. Last year you all came out and met us for the Opening Weekend and I was wondering if any of you wanted to do this year with us again? We have Sunday April 13 scheduled at 11am. I have been talking to Robbie Roessel at the track. He is in charge of setting the times for the clubs and he asked me if I could contact you all as well. We plan to go to the Rooster Fish for lunch after the laps. 3 laps for $25. they usually offer a better price for more laps.
Thanks a lot and I hope we can drive together again this year.
Sunday April 13th at 11am. Sounds good Craig. In the past, they have offered a buy 2 runs for $50, get a 3rd for free. That would be 9 laps total in 3 separate runs.
The Buffalo & Rochester folks can meet at the Canandaigua Wegmans parking lot, as in the past. It is 1:20 hr drive to the speedway. It would be nice to be there for about 10:30. So lets plan on leaving Weggie's at 9:10, take 364 down, hookup with Whine Country Coopers in Dundee & when we get into the village of Watkins Glen, we will take the back way to the park, on the old road course.
Just a few notes for the Newbies. We take our own vehicles out on the track for 3 paced laps. (offically 55mph, but usually can get higher speeds depending on weather & the pace vehicles) No helmets or special equipment is required. We drive the full course, not just the NASCAR circuit. They stage the clubs in the garage area, separate from the general public, so that we can all go out together. More details about the event & maps can be found at www.theglen.com
We can meet up with TierMini & anyone else that might be coming from a different direction at the Watkins Glen race track ticket office (GATE 4Aon the map), before going into the raceway, so that we are all together. Gate 2 is the main entrance. For the clubs, we sign the waivers at the gate, then pay your $25 CASH at the garage area entrance, where we will be staged with other clubs.
The Wegmans stop would be handy for picking up snacks, coffee & potty breaks, so get there earlier.
Lots of wineries down there if anyone wants hit any of them on the way back.
If you have FRS radios, bring them. Channel 7-21 as usual.
Boogidy, Boogidy, Boogidy
PS. For the Buffalo area folks we will gather at Al-e-oops, in Bowmanville, Genesee & Harris Hill (across from Timmy Ho's). I would like to leave by 7:20, to give us 20mins @ Weggie's (for important stuff)
Please post where you will meet us, Buffalo or Canandaigua.

Hey Jae, just show up at the Canandaigua Weggie's. By posting here, you have notified us. The more Mini's, the better.
The first few posts will give you details. Feel free to look back at the past years as well.
This weekends weather is looking better then the past 4 years have been.

It is going to be an amazing Opening Day. Our numbers have come down a bit, thou, I think we will double our numbers from last year. We are sitting at 26 MINIs combines as of 4pm today. Which is AWESOME in my book. There are folks meeting you at Weggies tomorrow and following with you to meet us at Serv U credit Union in Dundee around 9:50am. We have MINIs meeting us at gate 4a at 10:30am from TierMINI, Ithaca and Groton.
be great to see you all there.
Now, MINI of Rochester will be on the track after us at 12noon.
Hey Leon, looks like 3 of us meeting at Al-e-oops. You, Jack & myself.
Craig, MINI of Rochester is doing a separate event?
In the beginning, I was sure that our numbers were going to be higher this year, because of the new MINI store.
Now I know why.
My Daughter & I are driving together, so we are going to do the buy 2 get 1 free, so we may get back on the track with the Rochester MINI group.

Just can't chance the run over to the track today with this back :( I hope everyone has a great day at the track today. Hopefully I'll get there next year! Looking forward to today's posts
FINALLY!!!! Great weather for Opening Day. Very good turnout as well. All total, we had 23 MINI's, a SX4 & a Miata, out on the track for our first run. Those of us who bought the extra runs, got in line with the Roc City MINIs, swelling their ranks to 32. I hope everyone had a good time.
There is video footage of the Roc City laps on their facebook page.
