hey all, we are trying to get enough interest to get Jan out here for a tuning and dyno day. Jan works his magic on both turbo and supercharged Minis. If you haven't heard of him before please search North American Motoring for results from his tunes. For R53 owners who have done pulley or more he will be able to bump your rev limiter and smooth out your engine performance as well as make sure your engine is not running lean etc. R56 owners really benefit alot as he can get alot more out of your stock or bolted-on modded turbo. Post up on this thread if you would like your car to be massaged by a Mini God.
Jan does do some pretty good tuning. But, good luck if you ever have a problem, that guy takes literally months to respond to emails and/or phone calls.
Also, he does a lot of copying and pasting from other tuners. IIRC, his first tune that he sold was just the MINI Challenge car's ECU copied onto customer's cars, which ended up running like crap. Cobb recently pulled RMW's AccessPort license because of all the copying and pasting.
Obviously who you get tuned from is your choice but I'd take some time to look up some reviews of RMW. I'll be sticking with ALTA.
Either way be sure to let us know how it turns out!
I can only tell you what I have experienced FIRST HAND. He has tuned my former R52 convertible and will be tuning my R53 Hardtop. Anyone can post crap about people or products being bad. Alta access port has had many many many problems. Let's keep the thread crapping in NAM not here. Thank you.
I didn't realize you have an R53, I thought you had an R56. I never said his products were bad but it does make a difference since you've never dealt with him using an R56 (harder to tune).
I also didn't realize that posting helpful information here was considered "thread crapping." I'll keep it to myself next time, sorry.
