MTTS 2010 Pittsburgh, PA Saturday 8-7

Hey, sorry it has been a while.  It is me Grammacoop's hubby, Dennis, here to invite all members to motor down to Pittsburgh with us on our way to Denver, CO.

We have been to events at 06 & 08 MTTS and highly support them.  Not sure what will take place in Pittsburg, but you can bet that it will be fun.

While you are at it you could continue on to Columbus, Ohio on Sunday.

If any of body wants a thrill of a lifetime, I suggest heading to Indianapolis on Monday for a cruise around the "Brickyard" Speedway.

Give it some thought and let us know if you are interested.  Thanks.  We miss you all.

RE: MTTS 2010 Pittsburg, PA Saturday 8-7

Hey, Dennis!

Nice to have you back among us! The trip sounds like fun, but I don't think I'm going to be able to join you. We've done a few smaller soirees this year, have another one or two planned, and I'm still holding out for the possibility of a cross-country trip to hook up w/ friends out west. For me, the ideal MINI trip is on backroads so I'm wanting to get as much of that in as possible while the going's good. Never enough time, though...

Thanks for the invite though, and hope to see you soon! How's that new MINI working out?

Thanks for the reply and I understand.  Good to hear from you.  I was difficult giving up the 03's, but I am glad we did and I am loving the 2010 S.  Love to get together, but I am trying to stay close at home so I can gobble up any overtime that comes along.  I want to have some extra cash for the Denver trip.

The Pittsburgh event will begin at 5 PM at the Rivers Casino.  Exclusive use of the Wheelhouse Lounge for an open buffet with 60 TVs featuring pictures of MTTS.

We are up for a non-freeway drive and we will be staying at a KOA campground.  Madison/Pittsburgh S.E., $31.50 for a tent site.

The real fun begins in the morning with the Rise and Shine Rally, 8-9 AM.

I have been monitoring MTTS on facebook & was actually thinking of doing that exact thing. Pittsburgh, rise & shine, & across to Columbus, before turning around for home.
Not equipped for camping, so a Motel 6 would have to do.
I was also thinking of a non thruway drive down.  Although it adds a hour+ to the drive time.

If I read the info right, a Countryman will be leading each of the 5 rally groups all the way to Denver

I am also guessing that I will have to register to take part in this partial activity, even though I am not going all the way to Denver.

Hmmmmmm, the brickyard does sound enticing.

We would love to meet up with you.

PS.  Ted, I could not avoid the temptation of twisting your arm.

We will be staying at the suggested Columbus Hyatt Regency for $103.91.  If you want a room you should book ASAP.

The 06 run around the Indy speedway was a very well run event.

Dennis
So, was it only one lap around Indy, & was it paced like Watkins Glen?

Also, what are your accommodation plans for Pittsburgh & Indy?

Rob

P.S.  Just my Daughter & I are going.  The wife has got too much going on @ work.
We are registered.  Decided to do Indy.
Motel 6 all 3 nights to keep expenses down.
Taking Charlie.

We all lined up outside of the track.  Which was nice cause you could walk around and check out the MINIs and the people.  They had a banquet room with food & drink.  We drove inside and went around the track one time, two abreast at about 55 mph in one large group.

We are tenting at Pittsburg & Indy.

The neighborhood around the track is a little rough, but the downtown area is very nice.  You should be ok as long as you stay away from rooms within a few miles of the track.

Would you like to meet in the Jamestown or Bemus Point area?  If you are interested we could take the Bemus Point/Stow ferry over Chautaqua Lake.

You can pick the route to Pittsburgh if you want.

For some reason I thought you lived in Hornell.
Carolyn's facebook info says Rochester.
I was actually thinking of Bradford.
AAA mapped the 219, then 6 to Kane & 66 through the Allegany National Forest to I-80 & I-79. About 100 miles of interstate. 3:05 total time from Bradford.
We could do Jamestown & take 62 through PA. We would catch I-79 about 45 mi north of Pittsburgh. 3:15 total time from Jamestown.
A 3rd option is from Bradford along the 219 to Brockway & then 28 all the way into Pitt.
No interstate. 3:20 total time from Bradford.

Motel is 2 miles west of speedway, but right at the 74 & 465 crawfordsville rd exit.
Probably is borderline.

Bradford would work great for us.  We do live in Hornell.  I just did a quick look at MSN maps and it had me going to Jamestown and then south.

Let me know what time you would like to meet.

You should be ok at two miles out.  It was just the immediate area surrounding the track that made me nervous.

Well the festivities start @ five. If we plan on leaving Bradford around 11am, & it is around a 3.25 to 3.5 hour drive, that should give us plenty of extra time for potty stops, photo ops, traffic delays, Sunday drivers and such, plus an early arrival to get our goody bags. We are open to any time. What ever suits your schedule. If you want to do some sightseeing in Pittsburgh, we can leave earlier.
Actually, that might not be a bad idea. Catch a riverboat tour or something.

We can meet you at 11 if you want.  We would understand (and fully support) if you want to leave at 6 and attend the Farmington rally.  Only about 90% shure we could make it by 6 and if you decide to do the 6 am meet we can call you in the morning to let you know.  If not we can join you in Pittsburgh.

Did the RSVP already. Thanks.
The Farmington rally is a stretch. We are fine with the 11am & a little more relaxed drive down.
I haven't been to Bradford in quite a while, so I not sure where to set up the meeting spot.
Do you have two way radios? I have 2 & will bring them if you don't. 7-21 seems to be the default Mini club channel.

Rob

The only time I went to Bradford was when I stopped at the Zippo/Case Museum at 1932 Zippo Drive (Chestnut St. Extension)  16701.  Does that sound ok to you?

We have radios and will be on that channel.  I will send you a private note with our phone numbers.

Looks like it is 11 then.
