Oil Change

Ok, please help with this dispute I have with someone.  How often are you supposed to get your oil changed?  I was told once a year and during the year you should just keep a eye on it and top it off when needed. Is this correct? or are you still suppost to be getting them every 3,000 like a regular car?  Thanks for any input you might have :)

I would say every 10k or every year whichever comes first. Minis use full synthetic. While it is good to check it periodically and top it off as needed, that is not a substitute for routine oil and filter changes.

Hey, welcome MRyan! "Correct" in this instance seems to have the corporate MINI answer and LOTS of alternative opinions. I think there's some additional info on this site. Try using the Search function. Also try looking over at North American Motoring (NAM). I know there's lots of opinions listed over there.

Good luck with your decision and have a blast in that MINI! You are aware of MINIs on Top, coming up next month, right? If not, check that thread out too!

+1

I second this 100%. Make sure you use the oil that MINI says too. I don't have my book with me right now but it sould be listed in yours. If not just call the dealer.

Welcome to the Family. Happy motoring.
