Installing Ipod kit

Maureen has over 8000 songs on her iPod. I razz her all the time on how if the world ended we could at least listen to music for 300 days no stop. She connects the dang thing up every time she gets in the car. Not having the user interface for the iPod is the ONLY thing she gets upset about with the MINI. So I got the kit today from Towne. Will be installing it maybe Monday or Tuesday. Then I have to drive out to Towne and have them code it. The best part is that she will not even know it is there until the 25th.

So I ask the members for ideas on how I should set this up for her under the tree.
I was thinking of the empty parts box or maybe a picture of the connection in the car. What would you do?

Funny your evil self says that. Her last one was gone one day and the PANIC... OMG! Turned out her dog wanted to listen to it in the snow in the dog pen. Found it in the spring. As far as taking it from her. She sleeps with the thing. It might be sleepless nights. Yet with your idea I could grab it and put it in a box when we are sitting opening stuff on the 25th or stick it in the car that morning....hmmm got me thinking again....confuse

You all are going to love this.
Maureen worked last night at the ER and got home at 8:00am. So at 10:00 I thought it would be a good time to take the dash apart and install the Kit. It says 1.5 hours book rate time. So I figured I had enough time since I have worked in 1000's of car dashes before. Ok, So I am 15 mins into it and have tools, screws and dash on the floor and seat. Then the worst happens. I hear a female voice calling my name. It sound ever so familiar. I look up and "dam" it's her at the door looking for me. I peak around the door of HER car and she says "W-as ya do'n". Umm, Quick on me feet I say "oh just checking something out, i'll be right in". So I had just finished making the connections and was mounting the control box. I hurried to install every dash part perfect. I put every folder, disc and paper in the place I found them. Closed the door and looked at my watch. WOW, not bad I thought. 28 mins for 1.5 hour job and she still saw me. Upon entering the house she asked (mind you she has been asking this for every gift for the past year) "did you get my christmas gift for the car?", "ummm, just checking something dear".

Ok, so maybe I got lucky. Yet,she had to run into work for a bit and needed the car. When she got back she said "there is a light on the dash". The ipod unit still needs to be coded at the dealer. "Strang" I say. She finishes by saying "maybe it is only due to the new tires installed yesterday". "Could be".

Excellent MM! Good for you; very cool. What a great gift. And such a speedy installation. Good that you'll be able to give her a break on the price. Maybe Towne can shave some time off the flash and save you even more!
