resetting power window ?????

Our passenger side power window now has its auto stop at halfway. we have to "fiddle" with the power switch to get it to stop all the way up. I understand there is a way to reset or set it back to the full auto up position. Does anyone know how to do it?

RE: reseting power window ?????

If I recall correctly hold the toggle up for 10 sec while the key is on and the window function should return to normal.

ok. Just tried your idea. Did it with the key on. Held toggle up for 10+ sec. Window went all the way up and then came back down to halfway where it stopped. Tried it then with the engine running. Same thing. Maybe I missed something or there is an addition to what you wrote.

Other then just wanting it to work, the biggest reason is that Mo thinks it closed yet it is still open about a 1/4-1/2 inch. Result = storm that just came through today soaked seat. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!

Pamlico - come on think....think.... you are getting sleepy very sleepy. Now think back. DO you see it? OK.......what do you see????????????????    (just having fun with ya')

resetting power window ?????

I haven't had a MINI for over a year now so my recollections are rapid fading. However I looked this up on North American Motoring and found that my dementia hasn't progressed as badly as I feared. The only addition to what I originally posted was to hold the switch with the door open. So.. engine on, door open ... hold window UP switch for at least 10sec.  That should reset things.   If that doesn't do the trick then I'm stymied, sorry.  Perhaps call Towne on Monday?

Mighty Mo
I had to reset my windows once. With the key on bring the window all the way down then all the way up and hold switch up for 15 to 20 secs. It worked with mine and havent had a problem since. CJconfuse

The same thing happened to my MIni. I tried the reset and it did not work. I had to take mine in to Towne Mini and they had to re-program the computer with a new update. It seems that the window dip causes a problem and has to be re-programmed. It took a couple of hours but I have not had the problem since.

Thank you Pamlico, Dumpnrun and Tinman. Going to give it another try tonight. If all else fails, we have to take the car in anyways so I will have them look at it then.
