Come one, come all to the 2nd Annual MINI gathering at Letchworth State Park on SUNDAY, 9/27/09! We had a great time last year, but hope to have even more MINIs and MINIacs this year! I've reserved the Parade Grounds picnic area again from 9 AM to 3 PM for our enjoyment. Rules look pretty much the same as last year--dogs on leashes (they say 6 ft); pack in-pack out; NO alchohol. We can plan the details as the date gets closer, but mark your calendars now!
For a recap of last year, check out this thread: http://miniclubofwny.activeboard.com/index.spark?forumID=71633&p=3&topicID=18661324
We will add the date to our calendar. Sounds like fun!

Excellent! If you all show, we'll be just one MINI short of having as many as we had last year!
Letchworth really is a beautiful and amazing treasure of a park. When ted and I drove up through there a few weeks ago, it amazed me how nice it is in any season. At that time, there was almost no one there but even last fall, it wasn't too crowded (except for the Mushroomiacs sharing the picnic area, but they seemed pretty harmless).
I know September is a ways away, but seeing so many MINIs for the rally this weekend made me think it would be great to have a whole gaggle of folks Motor to Letchworth for this event.
Please mark your calendars and join up for this MINI family outing in one of WNY's premiere parks!
We definitely plan on going again! We had a really great time last year. It won't be the same without ted, but we'll eat donuts in her honor.

Anyone interested in getting some camp sites together and camping there Saturday night before the drive? We just camped there a couple of weekends ago. Great campsites and trails!
GR8Mini, here's a link to Letchworth's website. On the right side, there's some options for additional features, including a map. http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=12
I have the Parade Grounds shelter reserved for 9/27 so that's where we'll meet up that day. Last year, I think we started about 11:00, hung out and had some food, did a short hike, some more visiting, packed up by 3-ish (when the shelter permit expired), and then did a drive through the Park. The colors had started by then so there were some folks checking out the leaves. It was a good day, but we can certainly switch things up a bit if people want to.
We'll have to check our calendars on the camping idea. Might work for us but we've got a lot going on that month.
That's an awesome car. Look at the wheels on that thing! Holy Cow!

I am speaking for Carolyn in saying that you can count on her. We had a very nice time last year and began some great friendships. I may have to sit this one out and force myself to go to work.
Myself and probably Elizabeth are interested, but with applying for teaching jobs and whatnot it is hard to fully commit at this time. If my schedule permits I would like to camp so I may be in on that. I will let you know as the date gets closer.
Mitch, the last time I checked, teachers don't work (or interview) on Sundays!! :)

I am an authority on this matter; my sister is a teacher and is currently sitting at home sending me e-mails saying that she's still on the same tank of gas from when school let out...

OK folks, now that you've done so well at the car show, it's time to swap stories, check out the fall colors, maybe some good flooded locations, discuss Ted's love for donuts, VeganBrian's faulty alarm clock, Cathleen's new transmission, Serena's new Beetle, Holly's renaissance, Cammie's pink accessories, Lennon's modded mini MINI, jimmyd's wine buying habits, deb's scooter trips to Uncle Joe's, Laurie & Jack's stunning performance at the Rally, MightyMo's upcoming snowplowing / fire truck driving prowess, Mitch's new Motorin' life in Canandaigua, the FULL lineup for Watkins Glen '10, wienerdog's wienerdog, Charlie's Croker, Jill's new tattoo, Lauren's designs, bond...jrbond, stoney's low MINI miles, GR8Mini's current inventory, JC55MINI's reason for not attending the Euroshow in Rochester, Bagpiper's April top-down Motoring, etc., etc., etc. Sorry to have left more out than in, but it's getting to be past my bedtime.
BUT, let's do this thing! We had a great time last year. I've reserved the Parade Ground picnic shelter for SUNDAY, September 27. We've got it from 9 AM to 3 PM. No alcohol allowed. (Sorry, but I think it's only fair to the MINIs and Minis.) I will check out some options for tour routes. If anyone has some ideas, please get in touch. Would love to have a great turnout. If you haven't been to Letchworth, it really is one of NYS's gems; you owe yourself (and us) a visit! Hope to see you and all your other thus far un-named (but still oh-so treasured) MINI / Mini friends on the 27th. Please post on the thread if you plan to make it and what kind of a dish you'll bring to pass.
(Hopefully, our Mushroom friends will return. I think most of them wanted MINIs more than mushrooms by the time it was over...)

I think most of the mushroom people were on mushrooms....
I've had a renaissance? I didn't know that. By then, though, we'll have our new kitten, so I'm sure I'll have a few stories there.

We ended up not going, because I wasn't feeling well. And yes, the mushroom folks were very kind. Just a little weird. But weird is good.

My wife and I are planning to be there. I am not sure at this time what we will bring but I will post as soon as She decides what she is making. We have not been there in a longtime so we are looking forward to it. I will keep you posted on the dish. My wife said she will make Mac Salad. Trust me it is great.

Last year, we had a sparse but exuberant showing of folks that came from a few different parts of WNY. A think some grouped up and some came separately. Maybe a little chatter on the thread will help to confirm plans. I'll try to do a little investigating over the next few days and see if I can come up with some ideas for how we can while away our time in the Letchworth area.
Great to hear you and TINMAN are going to make it this year!
Last year, Chris (aka Dumpnrun) and I met at the Lowe's parking lot in Henrietta. We're coming from the Penfield area, and he's from Auburn. We drove down from Lowes to Letworth. Willing to do that again this year, or consider other suggestions.
