New all season tires for 2007 Cooper S

I need to get a new set of all season run flat tires for my 2007 Cooper S.

Originally it came with Continental ContiProContact so I'm looking at getting the same ones. I was quoted about $750 including installation, disposal of old tires and taxes.

I don't have much experience with this. Does this sound like the right thing to do?

Does anyone have any suggestion on any other tire? And what might be a good place to go for these in Rochester?

I checked the prices at Tire Rack and they sell the same tires for $141.00 ea. You can go on their web site and order them and they even have recommended installers in your area that they can ship them to. They even quote installation prices. A lot less than what you were quoted. All 4 for only $564 plus shipping and mounting. Also you could try Dunn Tire or go on the Continental web site & they may have a list of local distributors listed. Good Luck.

You WILL NOT get the best deal from Towne; they quoted me nearly $600 for new all seasons (15"), and I got them through Tire rack for just over $300 (including shipping and taxes), and paid the local VW dealership $60 to install them (including taking the old tires off the rims and putting the new tires on the rim, mounting, and balancing). The VW dealership in East Rochester does a great job, and they're all excited to see a MINI come into the shop.

Towne admitted that they cannot offer the best deals on tires, as they are required to purchase through certain vendors, which apparently does not include Tire Rack.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm looking up tirerack.com now. Any thoughts on Pirelli Eufori?

The Eufori@ is a run flat tire that is (was?) OEM equipment on some MINI models. You'll need to evaluate if you want to use this type of tire. Run flats have substantially stiffer sidewalls than regular tires and tend to ride rougher.

The decision to use run flats on the original MINIs was made relatively late in the game and the suspension had been designed with non-run flats in mind. Consequently those cars had a very firm ride where you'd feel every bump in the road. The suspension on the newer MINIs was redesigned to accommodate run flats so the ride (supposedly) has been improved.

The OEM Continental ContiProContact that I have to replace are also run flats. So, I'm used to the rougher ride (since I never had experience with any other tire on my Mini). Just wondering how the Eufori compares with the Continental ContiProContact? I hear that the ContiProContact is the bottom of the pile.

Ah, sorry re: the Conti being an RFT. I'm not as familiar with the different flavors of MINIs as I once was.

There's no reason to stay with run flats unless you want to. Non-run flats are less expensive, generally run smoother, and handle better. If you're concerned about getting a flat you can purchase a 'mobility kit' from BMW which consists of an air pump and a bottle of sealant (kits of this type are available from sources other than BMW as well).
