Bummed.... my battery is always dead in spring...

I am late in getting my Mini out of my garage for spring... the battery is dead again. This time it's really really really dead. Tried to jump it. At first the interior lights were working, but when I tried to start it, everything went black.... I work a lot in spring, so have not had time to pull out the battery. I'm in Rochester, so Buffalo is not so easy to get to. I miss driving it now that we are having some awesomely warm days.no

Check into some kind of trickle charger for the winter in the future. Until then go to Autozone or someplace they sell batteries and have a charger. So take the dead on there and see what they can do for now.

I have a 04 MCS and have stored mine every winter all I do is start it once a week and let it get up to normal operating temp and it is always good to go .
On the other hand my 07 mustang needs to be put on a triclke charger in order to get it up and running.
I say if you dont start up the car you must get a trickle charger, Walmart has one for $32. but it is still a good idea to start the vehicle ,running the engine lubricated .

The best that I have found is a "Battery Tender". They keep a charge all winter but  have an auto shut down so they won't overcharge. The Battery Tender Plus sells for around $60.00. It is perfect for a car battery.

A better tender is the ONLY WAY to go. We have one on each motorcycle and they ALWAY start right up. A slow charger will cook a battery. It has its use though. It could bring your battery back in  few days. Just don't leave it on forever. As TINMAN said go with the battery tender. They work in 3 modes. Slow charge, maintain charge and off. You will see that the tender will cycle through the modes back and forth. You can leave it on at all times you are not running the car and they come with a simple quick connect that takes 2 secs to reconnect. If you install it smartly you will never have to open the bonnet.
