Hey Brian, I'd recomend Having the MINI Community help you out with installing the mods, there are a lot of true experts out there who you can chat it up with while getting down and dirty....For example Mark and I got our CAIs and Pullies Installed together at a Pulley Party in NH and learned some new things while getting to know some great people ...we did this even though Im sure both of us are more than capable of doing it our selves...Just look up Pulley parties on MINI2 and Northamericanmotoring....even if the party has passed, some will still be more than wiling to help so send a inquiry post

All I have is the Megan Racing exhaust as far as performance and it actually made a huge difference. I also have redline custom leather shift/e-brake boots and armrests.

I have been looking for a CAI but haven't figured out which one I want yet, or if I feel I can instal it myself. I may be drawing upon the community for help on that one. I was able to swap out the exhaust myself, but that is pretty straight forward.

Maureen changed the smiley ball on the ant. to one with a nurse hat on it. Ok it is her car but come on - how much can a FireFighter and part time Landscaper take. The car is yellow - nice color but I prefer Black, cream or blue. Rally lights are good. RN plates - ok some guys are nurses too. So far so good. But now the nurse face on the ant. OMG! help! I do still drive it - I tell myself it goes to fast for others to see who is really in the car. lol
So the most notable MOD - I guess is the Nurse smiley face.confused

intake is pretty easy. Exhaust is much harder.

IMHO upgrading the CAI on an S is worth it on a non S Cooper it is a waste of money.

See I have heard that a CAI on a naturally aspirated makes a bigger difference since it depends completely on flow and has no mechanical aid.

Not to mention the only worth while things to do to a naturally aspirated is exhaust and intake, as far as making it more efficient. Of course there is always the sway bars, brakes and other handling upgrades.

I agree. But here is the problem SPDinNY. Which way to go. In 2011 or 12 it may be the last year for the 6.1L limited Edition (black sleeper) Charger. Yet there could be an all out MINI or a Diesel MINI that could take a super mod around that time too. Both should hold thier value, turn heads and be fun to drive. So do I make a move in 2009 when I am ready or wait?

Since MINI's have I think the highest resale value why not (if you can afford it now) get one now and not be waiting around. You can always sell it and only loose a little bit when you want to have a change.

minis have the 3rd highest resale in the world. One car that beat the MINI is the 2004 Volkswagen R32. I cant recall the other but i think its the Nissan Skyline or WRX

The Ram is paid off July/Aug next year. The thing is I might go for a simple Mini as a hold over for the better MPG but the Limited 6.1L Charger would be a sunday only driving investment. Only so much income so time will tell. Maybe the MINI and then we will see. Still a Diesel MINI would be the best. The super charger and computer mods that can be done to those blocks....oh oh oh !!!!

You know Brian that's and interesting thing. If you look at the VW's avalable in GB there are 9 or 10 that get over 51MPG and 2 of them that get over 70. They are cleaner then the average gas burning car. Similar for the MINI's which there are several models. The problem is 2 fold. The US laws that came out years ago for the diesel cars was due to the toxic gases they put out. And NYS laws are even stricter like CA. However with the new engines like VW's bluetech they now burn much cleaner. But you can't even purchase a new one and register it in NY. So the laws need to change. But the issue with that is like this. Lets say you can buy a car that gets 70MPG. Now the taxes that our wonderful government gets for fuel is per gal. purchased. The point here is that there would be less fuel use = less taxes at the gas station. And there is the issue of the BIG THREE. The money the throw after our representatives is so big that the Big three can keep the better MPG cars out of our counrty. Heck if you could get a MINI, VW, BMW or the likes that gets 70 MPG would you get a GM, Ford or Dodge? There you have it. When the laws change you will only then see the better cars.  I don't even know where to start with changing this. We simple people that VOTE don't have that kind of $ power. And you know what they say "money talks".

That subject bothers me alot. This whole country is messed up when it comes down to them needing all the moeny they can suck out from us and not caring about how were doing. Dont get me wrong , i do like alot of things about this country but i hate the government issue with it. To bad the world cant change and the "big guys" couldnt get their money obsessive power away for a day or two. It would change the world for the better if we could just live without paying all that Bull****.(censored)hehe.

There is the other side of this coin. If a company like BMW/MINI or VW could sell these new type of sipping clean diesel cars in the USA they might be quick to build a plant here in the states. The result would be the creation of jobs, brisk sales with big numbers and tax revenue gained from the sales of the cars. Sure you will hear the arguement that the money will go to the parent company overseas yet that is only a small amount since the workers wages would take the bulk $. Yet, not any of this can happen. See if the laws were changed allowing all this, GM, Ford and Chrysler may end up folding. They would not meet the new demand. Don't forget about the oil companies. They pour all kinds of money and dictation at the auto manufactures so they will stay as low in fuel MPG as we the public will accept so in turn we purchase large amounts of fuel so they and the goverment can make the money on volume and then have more money to dictate even more to the auto giants. Look at the Tesla. All electric car that goes over 300 miles on a charge. This car was designed by a small group that has no where near the R&D ability of the big guys. And here comes GM with thier new flagship - the "all new Chevy Volt". As GM says "it will go 40 miles before it uses any gas" Come on are they for real? This is the BEST they can do? Answer - yes they are for real and no this is not the best they can do. All the power is in only a few hands and they TELL us what we can have. Choice - yes we do! - if you like it in black and with a 25MPG  engine for 30,000. Funny yet it's sad.
