Can the mini really not handle more horses? or is it a rumor? im just wondering your opinion on that subject?

As is told in that video the gas pedal is not an on off switch. This might be why most people would say that it is undrivable. That said and since there are a lot of others out there that do not have a vehicle with the properly balance equal length drive shafts and drive line as a BMW or MINI it's understandable. However, in the defense of the "other" people I would have to say that if the MINI went to a higher output power plant the car should have AWD like the Subaru (excuse my french). In doing so you would gain two more tires putting that power to the pavement and maybe just maybe MINI could win in the cross races again.
Just my thoughts.

i agree with the mini needing AWD. do you know why they haven't done that with the mini, it makes alot of sense to do that? were they trying to keep it more luxury or something?

next year is 09 and they already have all the specs out for them and they dont have AWD unless you mean 2 years in 2010...

In the hands of a capable driver, both the MINI and driver can handle the power.

Here's a link of a ~650HP turbocharged R53 running a 10.4 1/4 mile @ 135 mph.  Press release here.

Also, the twincharged blue MINI in the video in the original post is reported to be running 400HP.

o man!!! i want i want i want!!!! haha. im looking for weawys to make my mini faster already but it would be a little bit till i acually do anything to it. once the speed grows on me and i need it faster. so i guess we have come to the conclusion that we can indeed make our minis insanely fast.

I think that getting the power to the back would be difficult, you need a drive shaft and then a rear differential and the MCS doesn't even have room for a spare

It will be interesting to see in the future. Like the clubman many said "you have got to be kidding, it will never sell" yet BMW/MINI have made it a great car that fits a nitch market and has become accepted. Now we look at the soon to be SAV. Most of us are say "NO WAY - YOUR KILLING THE HERITAGE OF MINI". Time will tell. There will always be a stong following for the standard MINI Cooper. Everything has a place. Sadly, the SAV will not be made in England though. In a small way I do hope that the SAV is made if only so MINI can take back the top standing in Cross  type racing from Sub., Audi etc...
