New Convertible Mini Owner

Hello All....

I will be a new Mini owner as soon as my new baby arrives....  A few questions for you seasoned veterans, if I may....

Yes, I got a conv mini (Pepper White), test drove them all and tried to talk myself out of the convertible, but I just couldn't do it... I got in and I was a gonner!

Needless to say, I am coming off a Nissan Murano which kicks butt in the snow and into my new baby.... How are the convertibles in the winter months?   Any concerns? Mainly concerned about the top... Give it to me straight please, its ordered and its too late to turn back now (not that I would anyway)...

I of course and a woman, and an impatient one at that (is there any other kind?)  I check the Owners Lounge on Miniusa.com to see the progress of my car, but nothing has changed in a week.  The estimated delivery date that Towne gave me was May.... question is, will I actually see progress on the OL site, or am I just torturing myself???

Any insite, advise, etc. you can offer would be great.  You all sound like a great group and I look forward to seeing you all on the road!

Congrats on your new car. I have been motoring topless for about 16 months.

Being new to the whole open air thing I have made some interesting discoveries.

1. You should have a hat, sunscreen, sun glasses, and a towel with you at all times.

2. Never do the following with the top down:
          Run the squirts
Open the glove box while in motion

3. Make sure there are no loose items in the car (the wind will suck them out)

4.  Be ready for comments from those that are open air impaired.

That should get you started.

smile Happy Motoring,
Jack

Just to add to Jack's post:

Be sure that you have a purse that zips (or keep it in the trunk)....the air will suck light weight items out of your purse (I've learned this by experience...I sure hope that my hubby likes the blender that I bought for him!)...

Be prepared to pull your hair back (have a rubber band handy).

Many people you don't know will wave to you (and occassionaly beep their horns). I can't tell you how many times I checked to make sure that my headlights were all working.

I put my convertible away this past winter, but am considering (if I stay in NY) to put snow tires on it next year. It's shameful to keep it locked up all winter. My main concern was salt bleaching out the top. Jack, how does your top look?

Pepper, I may have some snow tires on rims for sale if your interested. I think Winnie is going to be a garage queen during the winter.

I don't have a cabriolet, but I do have a rather nice pepper white MCS. Welcome to the Pepper White Club. Hope to see you at WGI.
