Well it had to happen sooner or later. My driving habits would get me pulled over.
On Thursday (12/27/07) I was stopped on my way home from a run to the local supermarket.
It was a nice clear evening just a touch below freezing, and our little village was lit up for Christmas. Before leaving the parking lot I decided to put the top down and take a leisurely drive down thought the center of town and enjoy the view.
About halfway down the main drag a police car lights up and I pulled over.
The officer walked up to my car and said Do you know why I stopped you? I replied, Let me think for a moment. When I left the parking lot I stopped at the traffic light with my turn signal on. I stopped for the second light. I am not using my cell phone. My seat belt is on. I was driving 25 in a 30 zone. I dont have any lights out. My radio was off. All of my window stickers are current. Sorry, I dont have a clue as to why you stopped me.
The officer then asked Have you been drinking this evening? I replied that I never drink.
He asked for the standard paper work and called in my plate number.
When he returned he said Isnt it too cold to have your top down. I said Thats you opinion.
The officer then told me the reason I was stopped was because I had my top down and he felt I was trying to sober up on the way home. I told him that I would be happy to blow a 0.0 in his meter and he then gave me back my paperwork and told me to drive carefully.
Don't feel bad Jack, I too got pulled over the other day. I was on my way home from campus, and from out of nowhere I saw the 'ol flashing red and blues. I sat there dumbfounded as I knew I wasn't speeding, so I couldn't figure out why he pulled me over.
As he walked up to my window, it hit me. No front license plate. Of course he did the usual take my paperwork and then come back to tell me to get the plate installed.
That was almost a week ago, and Kassy is still front-plateless.
It just irks me to no end. I live in the city, and with all the problems going on with crime and whatnot, he decides to pull me over. Glad to see my tax dollars going for something worthwhile. My father, who is a sheriff in Onondaga County even said it was BS and that he shouldn't have pulled me over for just that. Oh well.
