Home Link assistance

Ok, got this wonderful feature on the 07 MCS so I would not have to keep a garage door opener in the car all the time.  But after about eight attempts to program it and conversations with the garage door opener manufacturer I am at my wits end.

The homelink in the mini learns the coding of the remote just like the instructions say it will.  Things come to nothing when I try to get the mini and the garage door in sync.  The garage door "learns" the code from the mini then ignores it when I try to open the door.

Anyone have any experience with this and some new ideas to try.  So far, every resource I have tried says "it should work" but it obviously doesn't.

Found the solution. Use an older transmitter.  Why that works I have no idea but I took the transmitter from my daughters car and went thru the whole process with that and it worked the first time!

Something about the new garage door remote from my BMW was just not right. It would train the homelink. Or atleast trick the homelink into believing it was training correctly but it obviously was not.
