CNY Motoring East of 81- Sunday 9/30/07

Start: Old Erie Canal State Historic Park, (upper lot) Kirkville NY (East of Syracuse, just north of Manlius)

Finish: Bob's BBQ, Rt 281 Homer NY

Description: Dare to venture on 'the other side' of 81 and motor on the narrow windy roads that lie hidden among gorgeous valleys and hills in this less traveled part of CNY.
We'll start off with coffee and doughnuts at Old Erie Canal State Historic Park* as we admire each other's MINIs for a bit. From there we'll motor through valleys and over hills (east of I-81) down to Cortland/Homer area where we'll have lunch at Bob's BBQ pit (everyone covers for themselves).
This is not a race, but a chance for you to bond with our CNY MINI friends (and their owners).

*At the park there is a well maintained gravel road that leads to the lot, if you wish not to go up it, contact me before the event so something can be arranged.

Hey Venno-
THis might actually be an event that we can make! That is if our baby is back from the body shop by then. My wife was rear-ended on 690E about 3 weeks ago.. She's fine-just a tap really-but it banged up the rear end pretty well, and bent some suspension pats)-: I've attached a photo for moral support!

That should buff right out... biggrin.gif I've had bumper damage twice, but the Mini holds up well.

Venno, I have to work that weekend (along with most of the September weekends)

OUch! that looks painful glad to hear that your wife is fine...hmmm rear suspension parts need replacing...so you keeping everything stock?
...oh and sorry about the delayed reacton...

Thanks Venno. I hope your grandmother is doing better. We got the car back last week. They had to replace a few suspension parts (control arm and something else I think.) The car seems OK now other than the overspray that they got on the tail pipes and the opposite corner. We're still upset as it had only 6K miles on the ODO, but what can you do.. at least only the car was damaged! Keep me posted on the run, we'd love to be able to make it to one of these things before the winter hits!

and yes-we're planning to keep everything stock. So far I've installed a K&N air filter and that has been the only upgrade..

Yeah she's doing better now, She got through surgery, and shes back home now under doctor obs.
Glad to see that you'r MINIs all healed up....Check this thread, you may be able to find a fellow motorer who could help you get new tips.

Oh and to those of you that haven't heard yet, I'll be starting a job as a Senior Design engineer at Bobcat (its the MINI of the excavator industry) in the Czech Republic in January so the rescheduled date for this run will be my last run for two or so years
