My 03S rear tires are cupped at 12k miles. I ran the original Goodyear run flats for 32k miles, rotating frequently until all four were cupped and annoying. Towne says this occurs on all Minis, but I am not convinced. Although not in any manual, Towns says Mini recommends rotating every 3 to 5k miles. Checking most of the forums and blogs in the Mini universe reveals no mention of this being a common problem. Rear camber on Minis is spec'd at 1.5 degrees negative. Towne says if camber is adjusted neutral the handling will be unacceptable, but at the same time mentions a guy who races and puts his at neutral. Is anyone having the same experience with cupping or neutral rear camber? Can't wait to hear. Ralph By the way, Towne verifies the rear alignment is spot on, and asserts this is a usual condition for Mini's. Rotation is not a cure, but only a compensation that temporarily hides the problem.
Rear tire cupping is an issue on MINIs. This may not be the case in the '07 models but in previous model years it did occur and there were discussions about it on the usual sites. The owner's manual on my '02 MCS stated not to rotate the tires, but I usually did to try to keep the cupping within limits. I can't recall if the same is stated in my '05 MCS' manual.
