This should be a great event.  The Whine Country Coopers from the Finger Lakes Region will be coming to greet the MINI travelers.  I have spoken to several of them they are making the whole journey and it sounds like a spectacular event.

Registration opens tomorrow 3/27/14 and costs $45.

http://www.minitakesthestates.com/registration

I spoke with Mike Monteith, Manager at Towne MINI and he has some great plans for everyone while they are in Buffalo.  The Whine Country Coopers www.wccmini.com are participating in the events, if anyone would like to tag along that would be awesome, just let me know!  Remember registration is $45.

thanks

Craig S. Nelson, Co-President Whine Country Coopers.

I suggest coordinating a meetup at the Buffalo Transportation Pierce Arrow Museum.  The owner of the museum has reached out to the organizer of MINI Takes the States to see if something can be arranged locally.  It's a great place to see if you haven't already.

Anyone hear about any event or meetup when the tour hits Buffalo?  What's the secret?

Cmdycrzr, there is a meeting of the WNY Mini club on Wed May 28th 7pm at Towne Mini. Even if you haven't got your Mini, yet, your welcome to come.
We will be discussing the upcoming MTTS event, amongst other things.
The big event is going to be at RiverWorks. Towne Mini has posted some details on their Facebook page.

Cool, kind of hoping it would have been at the Pierce-Arrow Museum but I would like to see RiverWorks.

Yep, picked my R57 up last Friday...what a blast to drive!

Bill, the club now has a facebook page. Mini Club of WNY. Ask to join & we'll add you. We have 41 members so far.
Pierce-Arrow would also have been a good location.
Mike was saying there is about 500 people registered for the Buffalo event already, & Mini Canada is going to be crashing the party.
That could add another 200 or 300. There are 225 members of the SOMC alone. (Southern Ontario Mini Club)

Is it necessary to register for the MTTS in order to go t the event at RiverBend?

I believe so. If you are coming to the club meeting on the 28th, that would be a Mike question. There might be a registration for just one event, for a reduced rate, but I'm not sure.

Did anyone find out what the registration scoop is for the MTTS event at RiverBend?

The idea of paying a full registration fee of $45 just to attend a two-hour party is definitely a no-go for me. I'm going to be spending less than that at the World of Outlaws event at Fulton this Wednesday. And that includes food...

I agree. $45 is just too expensive to attend a two-hour party. I am just gonna show up and see what happens :)

If you wanted to get your money's worth, you could do Cleveland as well. That event is in the Rock & Roll hall of Fame. It is still $45, no matter how many events you attend.
We are starting in Cleveland & ending in Boston, so the 45 is a good deal for us.
I found out they are planning on hitting the jello museum in Leroy, then taking almost the same route through Penn Yan & Dundee as we do to go to Watkins glen.
They plan on 14A I think, but maybe I can lead a group along our route. Ha Ha
You could go to Cleveland, Wed after work, back home, work Thursday, go to Riverworks in the evening, take Friday off & motor with us to Bethlehem & Boston on the weekend.

Quick recap of our MTTS experiences - it was awesome and we wished we could have participated in MUCH more of it.  We enjoyed the event Thurs. evening at Riverworks.  All the owners and support people were great and the goodies were a nice treat. We won the raffle for a Garmin GPS and we competed in the LEGO MINI building contest and I kicked butt (it helps having a 6 yr old son) - I won 1st prize which is the full size LEGO MINI (over 1,000 pcs).  We were surprised by how much food was available - we snacked and enjoyed the evening - the weather was perfect.

We continued Friday morning at the rise & shine and it was a hoot leaving Buffalo on the way to Leroy - people were on the side of the road taking pictures, we were tooting and waving, and motoring along with other MINIs was a blast.  Somone posted some great video of the departure from Buffalo here.

We planned to go to Elmira or so but knowing what route 6 is like we pressed on and went to Clarks Summit.  It was such a nice drive that after we turned around we back-tracked the same route all the way to Canandaigua, stopping in Watkins Glen for dinner.  Over 400 miles of great motoring.

Can't wait for 2016 MTTS.

Congrats on the wins. We did go all the way to Boston & started in Cleveland. We also had a great time. I think Buffalo was the best, for mingling & talking with folks.
In Cleveland, we were at the Rock & Roll Hame of Fame, which was cool, & Bethlehem, it was Steel Stacks. An awesome way to reuse 4 huge blast furnaces.
Boston was in a complex that had an art gallery up stairs.
Plenty of food at all the venues. In Bethlehem, musicfest was going on, the largest music festival in the country & they gave each person $25 in food coupons. We didn't even use all of them.
Some Miniacs gave their extra tickets to homeless people. Wish we had thought of that. We gave ours back in the morning. Hope they went to the needy.
There was raffles every night, and one free alcohol drink ticket per night.
Nice breakfast @ each rise & shine, not just coffee & donuts, although I heard some earlier ones were simple.
All in all, a great time.

Aretta and I had a great time as well with only a few hiccups. We won tickets to the Alan Jackson show in Bethlehem and ended up 19 rows back from front stage. I am not a big country fan but I still knew about 80% of the songs. And I proposed to her in Boston on Sunday in Boston Commons park and she said yes =) =) Then we went to Cheers and celebrated. Was a great trip overall. There were just some traffic jams along the route (an hour in NYC) and a hotel gave us the handicapped room with an annoying shower, but as far as MTTS it was fantabulous.
