Great Motoring Roads

Since I just got my MINI (yay!!!) I now have this desire to find amazing roads to motor on.  My ride to work just isn't cutting it and most of the roads around me are simply too straight!  Does anyone have any great suggestions for some routes to motor on?

Thanks for any suggestions!  If they aren't too far away (I'm in Rochester) I'll probably give them a try soon and tell you how it went (if its farther I'll try and make it work into other travel arrangements).

Oops...I totally put this in the wrong section (eek). I meant to put it in General MINI but somehow I failed at clicking. Sorry!

Well I decided to go out of my way (kinda the point of motoring right?) and drove Kings Highway late at night. Was a fun road, only downside is that it was so short! I can't wait to hear what others suggest!

Lake rd in Webster betweeen Baker and Pellett* is another short bit of good driving. Kings Hwy is pretty much the best road for that kind of driving in the immediate area. We've been on some good runs in the Marcellus/Skaneateles area too. Wish there were more!

*I think

How about these for starters:

  1. Route 219 from Springville to Salamanca
  2. Route 16 between the end of the 400 to Olean
  3. Niagara Parkway, Canadian side from Fort Erie all the way to Niagara-on-the-Lake
  4. Letchworth State Park, especially in the fall
  5. Along the Finger Lakes on a wine tour...pick a lake.
  6. Old Lake Shore Rd all the way from Hamburg (Rte 5) down to Sunset Beach
  7. Rte 240 from Orchard Park to Rte 242 in Ellicottville
  8. Tonawanda Creek Rd (north side since the south side is closed) from Transit Rd through Clarence.
