MINI Day at Batavia

This comes as a total suprise to me.

MINI says their cars handle like a gokart. Here is you chance to test that by driving your MINI on a gokart track.

If you really want to have some fun with your MINI and see how well it handles I recommend attending this event.

GVC Chapter Driving Event
Autocross at BIMP - MINI Day!
Saturday, Sep 06, 2008
8:00am - 4:00pm

Location
BIMP
3490 Harloff Rd
Batavia, NY 14020

Autocross at BIMP - MINI Day!
Saturday, September 06, 2008 - 8:00am - 4:00pm

Our sixth event will be held at the Batavia International Motorsports Park (BIMP)

BIMP is a go-kart track that features elevation changes and eight turns with varying amounts of banking and curbing. It provides a more interactive experience than the typical autocross in a parking lot. We still use cones to keep cars on course but not very many since the rule is that if two wheels go off the pavement then the car is off course and the run doesnt count.

Come help us celebrate Towne Automotive Group's MINI-DAY - if you drive a MINI to the event, your event entry fee will be waived! Such a deal!

Directions to BIMP can be found at the BIMP web site

More details can be found by clicking at the link below.

Bummer!!

Already have a commitment that day.

Maybe I can weasel out of it. On the other hand, my MINI will probably be about a week or two old by that point. Will I really want to run it at the track with so little experience / miles on it? weirdface

Still sounds like fun (especially now that I actually have a MINI and it IS FUN!) but I still have the previous commitment. Hmmm,...responsibility or fun....responsibility or fun???

It looks like the weather will be nice.

For those that have never attended an autocross before here are a few tips.

Bring sunscreen, a cooler with lots to drink a lawn chair and pack a lunch.
There is a concession stand there how ever they are a bit slow.
If you have special dietary needs it is best to bring it with you.

You will be asked to course work so bring a pair of shoes that will be comfortable to stand in on uneven grass.

If you have a SNELL 95 rated helmet bring it along. Motorcycle and DOT rated helmets are not allowed. Loaner helmets are available.

Clean out your car. Remove all loose items from the interior and boot.
Check you fluids and tire pressure and fuel.

Bring something to put numbers on your car (blue painters tape, dry erase marker, white shoe polish.).

See you on Sunday.

Jack

Just finished taking loose items out, vacuuming, inside/outside detail in time for it to rain. So Oblio is under his cover awaiting play time tomorrow...

Can't wait to see you all there!

Anyone leaving or going through Fredonia let me know if you want to caravan out. I'll be checking this and pms.

I plan on getting there at 8:00 so I will leave Fredonia around 6:30.

Does rain stop the event from happening or do we just have to be more cautious?

I really wanted to go but....I'm a lazy twit.........but since it's my Birthday, I can not do whatever...... just because!!!  biggrin

But,

On the other hand, my tires are old, my brakes have 38,000 on them and I have a lil "clunk" which sounds like a CV joint that needs to be looked at soon.

I really had a great time last year but common sense with a shot of sloth is the way I roll.....baby!

Almost time to mount the Blizzacks.......cry

Go Bills,

Dave

Hope this was a great time. Sounds like it from Dnr's description. I was really bummed not to be able to make it. I thought it would be a really great chance to get used to the feel of tedscar in some fun but challenging situations. Hope they repeat the event next year!

Hey Everyone!!

It's lilcoopr aka Christina with the black and pink MINI from Toronto, Canada! I was able to meet a bunch of you on Saturday and I had a BLAST on the track! Thanks, Jack, for everything that day!! And thanks to the organizers for a great event!

The daughter of dumpnrun with the laser blue/silver Clubman was taking pictures (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name!). I'm just wondering where/when they'll be posted as I'm super excited to see what my MINI looks like zooming around :)
