Alignments

So my MINI needs an alignment....I usually used to take her to Sears when i was back in jersey, but when i took her to dunn tire and asked if i could get an alignment done, the guy looked at me all crazy and said, "for the car that you got, i don't know where you could go, but i think that you'd have to go back to the dealership"
I took it to Kost tires, and when asked if they've aligned MINIs, the guy said "a car is a car"....his pen also flew out of his hand about 5 times durring the few minutes i was there as he vigourously taped it on the table....
any suggestions on good places to get tires aligned up around syracuse? or was Kost right? a car is a car
(just don't want my toe or any other suspension angles to beput out of MINI spec)

I went to a local foreign car specialist in Rochester (Craig Autometrics on East Ave), though I don't know if they have any evening weekend hours. I haven't had them do much to my car yet but mount tires & the alignment, though I think they're up to the challenge.

Here in Endicott Precision Automotive can do them, but it might be hard getting down here as they close at 6pm daily and are not open weekends.  I am sure Joe can provide more info on Saturday... he swears by these guys.

Unfortunately I don't know of any allignments shops over your way, but I'd strongly agree with YMNY's suggestion of Craig Autometrics here in Rochester.

In speaking with a shop the information below that I picked up from another site may prove helpful.

On a stock suspension toe is all that can be set (although some of the later 2005 and on have a small adjustment range for rear camber).  Note that since Toe is all that usually can be adjusted other settings that will be measured and likely provided on the printout can't be adjusted.  If the measured vaules are out of range then that likely means worn or damaged components.

Stock Suspension Setting
All Measurements in Degrees

Front
Toe: 0.15° ± 0.04°
Total Toe: 0.30° ± 0.08°
Camber: -0.50° ± 0.40°
Cross Camber: 0.00° ± 0.50°
SAI: 11.50° ± 0.50°
Included Angle: 11.00° ± 0.90°

Rear
Toe: 0.20° ± 0.07°
Total Toe: 0.40° ± 0.14°
Camber: -1.50° ± 0.50°
Cross Camber: 0.00° ± 0.50°
Thrust Angle: 0.00° ± 0.17°

oooo I like numbers!!!
(its the engineer in me)
Thank you!
I'll see if Craig's has weekend hours, and maybe I'll have a trip out your way very soon...
Too bad that precission is closed on weekends, that would be perfect, learn to brew beer while waiting for my alignment and then continue on to jersey to visit family

Gladda help.

Unfortunately Craig Autometrics is only open on weekdays from 7:30 to 5:15. Their web site is http://www.craigautometrics.com/

You can also contact them concerning potential appointments at appointment@craigautometrics.com

Good luck.
